Do you have to have hymns at a church wedding ?

I didn’t have hymns. We chose our own music and took it to the church on a cd and they played it for us. So we had songs meaningful to us.

We had a mixture hymns abs more modern music and that was way back in 2000

We have to have 3 hymns and 4 pieces of music, but the pieces of music don't have to be religious but do have to be vetted by the vicar.

Totally depends on your church so you'll want to ask them.
Ours said no recorded music, had to be organ played and some songs just don't sound good on an organ x

Speak to the vicar. We got married in Code church. We got lucky and when I asked any questions like "do we have to have 3 hymns?" "Do the readings need to be from the bible?" Every response was "you can have whatever you want" we had 2 hymns (1 was a Christmas carol - got married late Dec) and 2 readings, not from the bible. Just ask. They may veto some songs/hymns due to content though. We were thinking Lord of the Dance, but that got vetoed which was fine x

I had a church wedding and we sang it must be love by madness and you’re my best friend by queen. The vicar said it was the best wedding he’d been part of so far because he was fed up of people choosing the same hymns

I honestly don't understand why you would get married in a church if you dont want to respect the traditions.
