I’m thinking of doing my own make up on the day but wondering if I will find this too stressful. Does anybody have any advice? Thanks in advance.
I did my bridesmaids hair, my flower girls nails any my own hair and makeup and didn't find it successful at all. x
I think I'll do my own too. No one knows your face and style like you do (:
Just give yourself plenty of time, like way way more than you think, and try and do it without out your bridesmaids in the room if you think that will distract you!( I'm doing my own and I know chatting to them will distract me ! ;) And also have plenty of practice runs! xx
I am considering doing my own...I am really fussy!!! Just going to go to boots or john lewis etc and get some trials and buy some nice stuff!
I had someone do my makeup and while she did do an amazing job it stressed me out having someone all up in my face for hours. I felt like I didn’t get any real time to relax or speak to anyone before the ceremony , I wish I had just done it myself.
I did my own.. was bliss! Got time to myself and had it how i wanted x
I was going to do my own but I stress about it at the best of times. Don't want to make a mistake and stress myself out so I'm getting it done. Also getting my hair done as that will stress me out too...
I’m doing my own and I’ll be doing my MOH and flower girls hair along with my own. Getting married abroad so not much choice unless I trust a complete stranger and I’m a hairdresser by trade so I’ve done wedding hair before a dozen times. I’ll just have to lay off the bubbles until it’s done xx
I did my one at my first wedding but choosing to have someone do it for me second!
I’m doing my own. I prefer that than having other people do it. It’s just my hair that’s stressing me out
For the second time in my life I did my full face (foundation, blush, eye magic stuff, finishing powder - which if dropped turns the whole bathroom into a winter wonderland) and it was ok! I kept it simple and didn’t stress. Did my own hair too and apart from the gas canister running out part way through, I think I was fairly calm for the whole thing. But you know you much better than anyone else!
If you are not completely confident doing your own, treat yourself and get someone to do it for you
I am a complete novice.. at 47. Lol but doing my own.. been practicing for few months now & begining to believe in myself....
I'm doing my own been doing it myself for 30 years only had it done professionally once and just didn't look like me so not stressing myself out x
I’m not a fan of people doing my make up, and although I think they will do a good job I’d prefer to do it myself. I’m good at doing it on myself, although I don’t do it regularly anymore so I’m practicing a lot before the day. And trying out different things to make it last all day. I’d say keep it simple and how you like it!
Some make up artists offer a service to teach you techniques of how to apply make up yourself at a less cost than booking bridal make up. But enough practice and I'm sure you will be fine.
A few tips;
Ready your skin leading up to the day, start a daily routine if you don't have one already. Exfoliation, moisturise etc. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin. Make up goes on a lot better on hydrated smooth skin.
Apply make up in natural light, it will look completely different when applied under false light. Sit by a large window.
Ask someone to take a photo of your face and neck as this will show how the make up will look on "film" will show up any colour differences in your foundation from face and neck.
Practice practice practice!
I did my own (with the help of my bridesmaid) as I don’t wear a lot so thought it a waste of money. I was fine I didn’t want a Mua turning me into someone I’m not and that would stress me more x I also don’t like people faffing at my face
The only reason I chose to have a make up artist is because they use better quality make up than I could Possibly afford meaning that it will last longer than if I did it myself with my own makeup. I can do my own make up pretty well, so wouldnt have minded doing it myself. Also, you're only a bride once it's nice to treat yourself and be pampered :)
I did my own, give yourself a lot of practice and a lot of time on the day, and if you're not happy start again.
I'm not having a MUA but my niece to be is going to do mine for me her makeup is always flawless and we are going to have some trials nearer the time. Only issue am thinking of is I know the real MUA use different makeup than what they would on just a normal night out makeup do I don't know what make up to buy for the best etc x
Daughter gat married December last year. Mua did hers, mine & 2 bridesmaids. None of wear lots of makeup & Rachel did a fantastic job. Looked totally marvellous & so natural & most important lasted all day. The girls till early hours of next day so worth every penny. It was a treat.
I did mine myself. It was how I wanted it. I’ve had people do my makeup and use hated it, some makeup artist layer the makeup on and it looks awful! X
I'm going to have a trial with a make up artist, my photographers daughter is one and is including the trial and make up on the day in his price if I want it. I usually do my own make up pretty well so I've been to John Lewis to get samples of all the big brands foundation. I'm going to try them all out and also have the free trial and see which I prefer. I quite like the idea of someone doing it and I'll feel pampered but it has to be perfect and I like it to look a certain way so we'll see :)
After having a terrible make up trial this week i will definitely be doing my own too x
