We wanted hallelujah for me to walk into the church too but now not to sure after listening to the words. To be it suggest there is no god and about murder. So maybe not appropriate for church. I'm I reading to much into this
What about having the instrumental version playing so you still have it just not playing the actual words x
The song explains how hallelujah has many different meanings. It’s not a religious hymn in the traditional sense. Has your church said it’s ok to use?
Hallelujah is a song about losing your faith. I personally like it but if you're not sure about the wording based on where you are getting married then maybe have an instrumental version.
I'd be surprised if your church would be okay with you using a version with lyrics. Civil ceremonies are very strict about religious sentiments, I imagine it would be the same vice versa
👍
I had amazing grace for my grandfather who had passed away, we then had morning has broken ( as we got married at midday) Jerusalem ( reminded of my childhood) and left to lord of the dance! All chosen fir sentimental reasons
The church we ok but said are you sure you want this for your wedding
Can you have an instrumental version? X
Thanks the instrumental version maybe an option.
Have you seen the video of the Irish priest who sang it at a wedding. Our groomsman is a singer so he sang that version (with our names) as we signed the register (we had a church wedding). Could you find someone to record it? Or have an instrumental version?
I love this song, but like you don't think it's right for the situation... so I changed it to something else x it's up to you really if you like it or not x
I have sung it at a wedding. Guitar and voice. I kind of hummed verse melody and sang chorus. Worked well. The couple were happy.
We had Hallelujah instrumental played whilst we were signing the register in our church. x
We're not having it now but really can't find some thing else really don't want here comes the bride
