So I had my final dress fitting at the weekend. I ended up with a strapless dress which I was adamant to start with I wouldn't have, as I haven't got much of a bust sadly, but I found myself buying a beautiful strapless dress. My dress fitter has had to take the dress in quite a lot to make it fit better around the bust area and waist etc so now it's lovely and tight and fitter but sadly I am now getting those little squidgy fat bits near my armpits that I am really self conscious about. It is making me nervous to wear the dress. I can't get her to take it back out as I'll be back to square one. Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do?

Hi strapless dresses do that even if you are really slim :)

I doubt anyone will notice!! Honestly!! My nan always said if you show off your assets people won't even notice a hairy leg 😂😊.. I bet you look amazing and no one is going to be looking at your armpits!. Good Luck on the day relax and enjoy it! Xxx

You only notice because your self conscious about it and it bothers you,, no one else will notice x

You could always get one of those nice lace tops that goes over the top of your dress. They look so pretty and will hide everything your conscious about xx

That happens to everyone. All your loved ones will just be thinking how beautiful you look.

no one will notice, but if you don't feel comfortable then maybe a lace overlay?

Mine does it too and I have big busts and a saggy mum tum. Makes me look like I've got podgy bingo wings. Think it's just a thing with strapless dresses

I hate that also which is why I avoided strapless. Ended up buying a strapless but gonna get them ti make some straps when they take the dress up out of the left over material to hide the squidgy bits and make me feel more secure as well as stopping me feeling I have to pull it up ever 5 seconds

Unless you are inviting a load of bitchy morons to your wedding, no one will notice or care less. None of us are perfect. My dress is strapless and unless I manage to get Madonna’s body in the next 6 months, I too will have squidgy back fat. I hadn’t even thought about this until I read your post, but now I do think about it, I couldn’t give a flying frig. Enjoy your wedding x

Fat bits. Try not to worry I don’t think anyone will
Be looking at your little fatty bits xx

My dress wasn’t strapless but I had to get a size 6 when I needed a 10 and unfortunately I ended up with those weird little armpit fat pockets and really bad back fat (which my bridesmaids had to try and iron out and hide under my dress ) it bothered me every time I went for a fitting, it was all I could see and it got me really down. On the day however, I didn’t think about it once, I was so excited, nervous and emotional that the way I looked really didn’t seem important. Don’t stress about it too much, you will look beautiful no matter what

I had my dress a bit looser on the day, I wanted to be comfortable.. maybe best asking if she can have it loosened off. You'll be eating drinking and dancing all day and night nothing worse than feeling self conscious or uncomfortable so keep going back to have it amended until you're 100% happy that's what your seamstress is there for

Could you get some off the shoulder straps added to the dress, that would go over the area? Like everyone has said no one will notice on the day and im sure you will look stunning regardless, but you dont want to be worrying about that on the day or leading up to it! :) x

Everyone has those little squidgy bits and tbh really like everyone said noone notices but i get it its a big deal in your own head, the bit your describing is down to sugar (and fruity cocktails 😂) mainly (well they are for me) so im gonna cut down from sugar a few weeks before the wedding just to give a little extra boost so i look my best but there will deffo still be some squidy going on 😂

No one will notice but if it’s getting you down that much what about a bolero? Can get nice lace ones and ones that blend with your dress

A good photographer will edit them out of photos also, but I'm sure no one will notice in real life either! Xx

I felt this way about my dress too, and said I wouldn't go strapless but did in the end - I bought a lovely lace bolero from Etsy and had it on and off throughout the day :) xxx

I had off-shoulder bits added to my dress as I couldn't do strapless either! Couldn't move my arms above my head but I felt very secure! It'd also hide any spillage :)

That's why I didn't get a strapless dress due to my size it looked really awful with my fat bits but honestly I love strapless dresses I can guarantee no one will notice those on the day x

I never ever thought I would go for a strapless dress being on the larger side. I was a 16/18 here after dropping two dress sizes for my wedding. I am so glad I did. I had a magical day and not one picture do I dislike, even one that shows a delightful angle of my bingo wings lol, because my day was magical and perfect and this dress was part of it. I had a cathedral length veil that I chose so I could have it over my arms a bit but I didn't need it. You chose that dress for a reason, I had doubts too x

If it would make you feel better get them to add straps on to your dress😊💕 xxx

Everyone has those even Olympic swimmers. Trust me I was stressing about this and my husband pointed the swimmer thing out. The seamstress pointed out EVERY bride they have "says the same and it's skin!" And they lady who I got the bridesmaids dresses from also said the same when I spoke to her. I am very body conscious but on the day I honestly didn't think a single thing about how I looked. Please try and not worry about it and enjoy your day x

Could you possibly put a bit of a sleeve/strap to cover it a little, like a sheer material that won't distract away from the dress, but could cover any problem areas?

Rhiannon Murphy

On the day you will probably be too distracted to think about it.

Hi! I definitely know what you’re talking about and have had this myself with a strapless dress - I found having a nice little bolero can look very classic and hide those important self-conscious parts :) xx

I’m sure It looks gorgeous and no one else would ever notice! Everyone gets those squishy bits no matter what size they are. If you really feel uncomfortable though, could you get a lacy part to go over the top of the dress? It could be removeable.
