I'm really struggling to find an evening reception we can afford we don't have a lot of money and time is running out.
Check places out for events rather than wedding. If you use the word wedding they up the price by adding lots of unnecessary things. (For instance, for a wedding they will assume the of supply chair covers which are about £3.50 each so you will have saved £350 for 100 guests if you do without them).
You don't have to have an evening reception at all. Don't feel pressured into it. You could have a party to celebrate 1/6/12 months of marriage instead. It's YOUR wedding.
I agree you can find a nice hall or club which you can decorate yourself and have a good BBQ style with buffet for reasonable cost. I considered our local football club. Good size hall and kitchen also cheap drinks for guests.
Do you have a friend with a beautiful garden, might be worth asking
We are having a function room in a social club an getting some one to decorate it for us it was 100 for the biggest room
We chose a pub in end n got an event decorator to decorate it nicely it was lovely n people really enjoyed it plus it was cheaper for the drinks for them too xx

I'm glad it's not just me then, we are really struggling, we have booked the church but nothing else xxx
If you have friends who are golf club members ask them about using their club house, they usually are inexpensive to hire and most do excellent catering.
We are having an evening do in a golf club. It’s not expensive and even the catering is very reasonable.
We are having the function room at local pub.. Room is nice, just needs few balloons. £300.. On a friday..
We had a social club function room which was free! (£50 deposit which was returned on the night), and we paid to have the room dressed, and then had a massive hot and cold buffet provided by a local caterer, and hired our own DJ who provided all the lights etc. It was all very well done we could have been anywhere, and big plus for guests was all the drinks were cheap lol x
We have hired a social club. Its really nice, and its free...we just have to pay them to supply food ad reception/toast drinks
We are having it at a rugby club only costing us £100 to hire for 2 days so we can spend a bit more money on getting someone in to decorate it.
Village hall and supermarket buffet like m&s or Waitrose?

Social clubs are your best bet on saving money x
Having a bbq for our reception. Marinading and prepping all the food the day before, so all it has to do is be cooked on the day (luckily my brother is a bbq hog, so will be cooking everything!) works out alot cheaper plus as i have a very tricky allergy so if i am gonna be incontrol of the food i can rule out having to stab myself with an epi pen on my big day! We are putting in the work now so the garden will look great hope what ever you decide you have a fabulous day!
We looked around at all the local village halls and social clubs , we went for a social club in the next village . it has a function hall and 3 bars plus the outside space/field for maybe bouncy castle . It's only costing us £90 for a Saturday
