Any other shorties struggling with finding a dress style that isn't going to swamp you?
I'm 5ft and I was worried about this but the shop assistants will help you find the style best for your height and body shape.
Me I have the same problem lol
I'm 5ft and went for a Grecian style

I’m 5ft.. ballgowns definitely drowned me however loads of others looked and felt really nice so you’ll be surprised 😄
Im 5"1 and this was mine. Its actually a ballerina length dress but because im a shorty it was full length
I went for a shorter style. I tried on a few longer ones that didn't drown me as much as I expected but weren't for me. Mine's calf length - I'm 5ft 2. It's gonna need adjusting a little but not too much (I hope) x

My dress is from Casablanca wedding dresses. Stockists around the country. And if I understand right because it's got a lace design they measure you specifically and the dress is made to match your body. Have a look at the range they are beautiful gowns.
I'm 5ft 2 and a size 6. Everything swamped me, After trying on every dress in the shop I went for a full length, lace A line.
Only thing I would have changed is that I'd have gone for a lighter dress. My dress was so heavy that even in the pictures I still look like the dress is wearing me! I loved it but it was alot of extra weight to hold up all day and everyone could tell! X
I'm 5ft 1 and chose a large a line (closer to a ball gown with the hoop underneath). I had a lot taken off the length and it fits beautifully so I don't feel like I'm drowning even though there is a lot of skirt (having a heel helped too). I tried so many styles on but only this one won my heart. Go with what you feel amazing in and you won't look like the dress is wearing you xx
I'm about 4ft 11 so I dread dress shopping either way I'll have to have some taken off x
I’m 4’11, size 12, I’ve tried few wedding dresses from Wed2Be, but they’re far too long and , didn’t feel the wow factor, so , we went on holiday to Philippines where I came from and had it tailored made to my proportion, now it’s a waiting time, I’ll be able to try it in 2 weeks but I am nervous , have i chosen the right style or will it suit me? Good luck to us, shorty brides and good luck to all the brides . Xx
I'm only 5"3 and ended up in a princess (never would have imagined that style on me) had loads taken off the length but absolutely loved wearing it and I even had dr martens on underneath so no extra height there either
I'm less than 5ft and found my dress at the weekend. The shop were very good at picking styles to suit me, it's still very long and will need lots taken off but the shape was perfect for me.
I'm a 5ft size 6 newlywed. I really thought I'd struggle with a big dress but I felt beautiful in it. My only issue was come the evening I was so done with wearing something so heavy - really gives your core muscles I work out if you've got a small frame. I wouldn't have changed my dress at all though. Wear what makes you feel special :)
Mine was worked on by my husband's aunt who is a brilliant seamstress and we really had to take it up and in to make it perfect. From my experience, wedding dresses come up big.

Im so worried about finding a nice dress that fits Im 5'1 🙈
I'm 5ft 2in and really struggled when picking out a dress, couldn't find a style that I really liked. However the staff in the shop that I bought my dress from were so knowledgeable and put me in the dress that I'll be walking down the aisle in.
Try a bridal ship, if just for ideas as they can probably also put you in touch with their seamstress who will make you look beautiful
I'm 5ft 4in and I've got a mermaid dress with a big train so it's fitted right down to just below my hips before flaring out which means I still get the wow factor but I'm not drowned lol xx
Wow, this had way more input than I thought it would! Thanks for posting, everyone. I think I might go for an A-line that doesn't go to the floor but who knows, let's see what ends up looking good. I'm also grateful for the tips on dresses being heavy; never even considered that!
I’m only 5ft 1. I originally picked a princess gown but when I went for my alterations I decided to change the dress to tea length & I was so glad I did, I loved my dress & it was perfect for my height (lack of!) dress was from David’s Bridal.
I'm 5ft and even my tall friends said they has their dresses shortened. Bridal gowns all come up long. I think as a short person it's not the length I'm worried about but looking short and swallowed up by the dress.
Yeah, I don't think a floor length is a good pick for me. Tea length looks beautiful!
