We are having a knife & fork buffet. We completely ignored the suggestions and asked for meat lasagne, veggie lasagne, salads, baked potatoes, BBQ sausages, seafood platter and a few other things so that it should cover all our guest's dietary limitations. We wanted something basic and not pretentious. The problem with pre-chosen menus is that a lot gets wasted when people have dietary constraints ... otherwise it is a nightmare to sort them out.

We are having Christmas dinner as we're getting married on 22nd December, personally I love having a buffet selection to choose from at parties but at a wedding I prefer to sit down so I can mingle and talk to the people at the table otherwise there are people always walking around.

Hog roast is always good. We are having a 3 course sit down meal, but not a roast dinner and our guests get 4 choices for each course. Then we are having a BBQ in the evening.

I prefer buffet. I'm a picky eater, so a set meal is usually wasted on me. I'm considering fish and chips or afternoon tea

We had afternoon tea which was served to the tables and everyone loved followed by spit roast beef butties at night, the afternoon tea was really easy to adjust for tables with vegetarians or people with food intolerances too and we provided vegi option alongside the beef at night

We’re having a 3 course wedding breakfast then a buffet for the night do which will include finger food like sandwiches, chicken, quiche, mini pizza etc because that’s what most of my guests love and would prefer rather than all that fancy food. And most of my day guests will still be full after the wedding breakfast x

We had a hot buffet for ease of wedding guests. But what’s your favourite food? Why not try something different like a tapas type menu or a Chinese/Indian banquet (could be set out lovely on each table). Afternoon tea is a nice one. Or if you’re after a 3 course meal, choose something you would want at a restaurant. So maybe deep fried Brie or garlic mushrooms, pork with sweet potato mash or gammon with egg/pineapple, then cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding. Hog roast? I like the pizza van idea above? A friend of mine had the parents make a buffet.....that was amazing too xx
