Hi brides, We are thinking of bringing our wedding forward, from 2020 to 2019. What are the chances of things being booked up? Our chosen venues has told us they don’t take bookings more than a year so that’s great for us but I’m worried that photographers, florists etc are going to have bookings on the day. Am I overreacting or shall I be worried?

I wouldn't worry. Our wedding day is exactly a year after H2B proposed and in July which is a busy time and we have managed to get all our suppliers with no trouble. Obviously the earlier you book the better but there is a lot of hype put out there by suppliers who want the bookings to make it seem like you can't get things you want if you don't book years in advance.

I wouldn't worry, I would just take it supplier by supplier. They can get booked up in advance but not normally fully booked a year in advance.

As a photographer myself, I have a few dates booked for 2019 but it seems people are booking later - if there was a photographer you are desperate to have see when / if they’re available and the venue may be able to do same one? xx

It depends when you want to get married. A random weekend in September, away from school holidays, you might be fine. Bank holiday in August, not so much.

The only way to know is to message or phone around and ask before bringing it forward x

I’ve booked and planned my wedding in 6 months. I didn’t have a problem with suppliers being booked up but that could be down to getting married on a Wednesday in March x

12 months is usually enough notice to fond most suppliers. Sometimes your first choices might be booked but there will be so many available if you start booking sooner rather than later

Should be fine I didn't book some of my table decor until the month before. If you have a particular photographer or videographer in mind these will prob be the suppliers most likely to be booked more than a year in advance x

Lol, I decided Christmas to set the date for march.... THIS year! I'm having no problem getting what I need booked and that's three months notice... but I suppose if I wanted really popular places it would be a bit tougher, but I'm also doing it mid week, which is probably helpful x

We're a 2020 wedding, and although we have some things booked already we've had to pencil in some others as they aren't booking yet. I'd advise to research and ring around, and some people may take you temporary until they take proper bookings 😁😁 xx

Depends on day of week/month.

I'm getting married in September 2019 and just started planning at end of December - I'm having no issues with availability at all! I agree with what everyone else has said, take it supplier by supplier :)

My wedding will be this October, less than a year from proposal. My sisters was 7 months! Just ask around, there's so many decent wedding suppliers out there that at least one of them will have your date free. I'm glad we moved our wedding up from 2019, I don't think I could wait that long 😂

You should be fine. We booked our wedding in December and it's this April! Got every supplier we wanted so far, no issues. Think there's a lot of hype about things being booked up tbh.

Tracy Coe

I'm getting married in September 2019 and started booking things when I got engaged last October. I think as long as you have booked a venue you shouldn't have any trouble booking other vendors. Good luck x.

surely the easiest way to answer this question is to ask your suppliers? :) They are the only ones that will really know

I’ve just finished booking my November 2018 wedding and I got everyone and everything I wanted. Think people just advertise to scare people Into booking

It's more making sure registrars are available as we booked ours 18 months before and they had limited times

Unless your after very percific locations or persons todo certain things, then I wouldn't worry at all, my auntie after being with her partner for 20 odd years, they decided to get married one day an they had her wedding sorted in less then 6 months! Was also around Christmas time. (Busy season for most) Was a really lovely day. It's just how flexible you are about stuff xx

UKbride Administrator

We started planning our 2019 wedding in October 2017, and all of our chosen vendors were free. I’ve found that a lot of people are still booking for this year, so I imagine you’ll be fine.

Marie Richardson
Marie Richardson 25 Jan 2018

We booked Sept 17 for Aug 19 and have had no issues getting things booked. The only thing I had to do was have my ceremony 1 hour later than planned due to registar not being available but that's it x

We only started booking our daughter’s wedding that’s in May in September. Plenty of availability

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 25 Jan 2018

You will be fine with most things it’s just the registrars that you may struggle with so they should be your first call however I planned my whole wedding start to finish in 9 weeks includes venue, registrar, Marquee and all the trimmings for 100 people you have plenty of time! Xx

We booked our wedding September 2017 for October this year so it’s definitely possible. The only thing Id say is making sure the registrars are available 😊

Are venues good at letting you change the date? We are booked for June 2020 but I’d love to bring it forward a year or so? X

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 30 Jan 2018

I'd only worried about the registrar being available. Of course, it does depend on your county. But I rang back in November, thinking it was way too early consider my wedding is April 2019. Was surprised that my registrar couldn't fit my requested time, so I've had to rejig timings and have my ceremony at 3pm..

We are getting Married in September 2019. I've had the venue booked for 6 months.. I am book caterers etc this month.. at a meeting on Sunday they told me they are receiving bookings for 2020 already. Also i think it depends on where abouts you are getting married and how popular the place is.Hope this helps.

I booked my venue just over a year before the wedding. It’s a Saturday in April, so not peak season. Have had no trouble finding caterers or photographers but then again it depends who you want I guess.

Ring around we booked our 2019 venues photographer ect and they were already 75% booked and that was in September.

We started booking things in spring/summer of 2017 for an August 2018 wedding. We found we were slightly limited on venues (possibly due to timing and size - we have a very big family) but only had to go for second choice on one supplier

We're getting married this June, and due to unforeseen circumstances had to change our photographer. We spoke to a fair few people (15/20) and there was only two or three that didn't have our date available. I'd say you should be ok. Best thing would be to set a provisional date and phone all your preferred suppliers and see if they are available for that date before you set anything in stone x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 30 Jan 2018

I got married in the middle of August last year and only decided to book our wedding 16 weeks before hand! We got everything we wanted and had the perfect day! xx

I planned our wedding in 5 months you just have to ask around a lot but all of our suppliers etc were brilliant and our wedding was lovely despite the short notice
