Do, me and my partner are having a hard time finding a venue for the evening party for about £1000. We can’t go above Imour budget because we’re paying for it ourselves. Does anyone have any ideas? It would be very much appreciated

Hi Jessica, it is difficult but have you considered contacting a local village hall, community centre or school hall for hire? It will probably be much cheaper.

The minute you mention the word 'wedding' everything goes up in price. Look for somewhere for a 'party' or 'event' and you may have more luck.

We're having a function room at local pub.. £300 on a Friday, from 12noon - Midnight. Luckily Mother in law to be, is paying for catering & DJ is £200.. As money is extremely tight, (due to change in circumstances after booking everything,) we are not paying for guests beer or wine.. so that keeps costs down, alittle..

We booked our reception at a local family run pub that has 'event' rooms. They said we can have the room for as long as we want and they'll only charge for food. So no rental fees. We paid £200 deposit and will only need to pay a further £250. Have you considered something like that? It could work out cheaper for you! We're only paying for a first round of drinks and everyone's meals. Keeps money down so much!

Whereabouts are you? Find something that is normally closed in the evening. They tend to want a lower spend. Be clear about what you want from your evening do. Food which is plated and served or canapes etc are more expensive. Big pots of food are cheaper and more filling xx

We found our venue on groupon. We visited it and they said they would honour the price if we booked directly with them and they added in a few extra things. Our venue was £1599 but we are using it for ceremony etc but I'm sure you can find some for lower. Failing that, you could just hire out a local hall

We hired a local village hall. Luckily for us it was only £150 and had a bar. We then found a company that hired out drapes etc and made the hall look lovely. We had a hog roast at £6pp and DJ for about £250

We hired the function room of a local social club for a £50 deposit (which we got back on the night so it was actually free!), and then paid £500 to have the room dressed professionally, they did an amazing job, completely transformed the room so that it could have been anywhere, there was loads of room and the drinks were dirt cheap!

We are looking at our local rugby club, as it's under half your budget...if I remember prices correctly the wedding and reception venues we are looking at together are around £1000. Good luck and congratulations. Xx

Places like village halls tend to cost much less, and as many have referred to here, as soon as you mention wedding, costs tend to increase. Venues tend to be cheaper "out of season" so that may also help in your search too.

Village halls a good option but you might find somewhere who will do a deal for you if a midweek wedding xx

We had ours in a local pub that had an events room. Talk to them about your budget and see what they can do our was very helpful and kept the price down to our budget . We even picked our own menu.

Like others have suggested look at local sports clubs. You can also look at local town halls, they normally end up on the cheaper side as well. You can generally decorate them to your liking as well :)
