I have to decorate my venue and don't know where to start. I am not sure where to go to by the decoration such as drapes and fairy lights and not sure whether it will be better to hire them and where from. Has anyone got any suggestions or recommendations

Ask your venue if they can recommend any suppliers, and maybe go from there? Get some quotes, and then see if you can do it any cheaper. X

Hi ti wedding fayres or ask venue to recommend venue decorators. If they know the venue well they’ll be able to fit around your themes etc. X

I’d recommend hiring, it costs around the same and you’re not left with tons of decor you won’t ever use again after the event! x

Drapes lights and seat covers I'd definitely hire as you'd have no other use for them after! Centrepieces buy

eBay and Poundland

Sounds tacky! But most of my stuff is off eBay, and Poundland have some amazing bits that are selling for £30 elsewhere!!

And the stuff from eBay is amazing quality nobody would ever know!!

Depending on where your venue is, you could try somewhere like 'venues covered' for package deals

Look for wedding fares near you and go along. Usually a few people there that cater for decorations that you hire from. If you doing yourself check with the venue their does and don'ts as mine won't allow anything attached to their wall or ceiling!

It all depends if you have access to the venue the evening before, or have enough time the morning of your wedding to set up, you will need a good few hours. Unfortunately I don't so have had to hire someone to do it for us x

Fairy lights go to eBay. I bought 3x50m and it wasn't that expensive x

I hired someone and it was the best thing I did. We chose options together and they decorated on the morning and took it down the next morning so zero stress for me.
Which area are you in? X

Have a look on eBay and amazon for decorations, also look in places like home bargains and Poundland. It's amazing what you can find in those places for decorating you venue. I also found the hiring stuff can be more expensive then buying if you look around. One more tip, if you have any friends or family that are good at making stiff then recite them in to helping to decorate too. Xx

The plus side to hiring room decor is that the company would do all the decorating for you, exactly how you want it so you don't need to try and organise that yourself. Also, they would make it look professionally done too. Diy doesn't always work well.

We hired many because of less stress and because we wouldn't have been able to decorate the venue the day before! Also you have to take everything down the next day. If you've got some volunteers to help you out then that's not as bad. We just thought we had enough to think about coming up to the day never mind organising that as well
We wanted as much peace and serenity before the day and kept things as simple as possible x

If local to Herts, I had Sovereign Weddings and they were really fab! (Great value, pretty, professional and I didn't have to do anything once we'd chosen what we were having)

I know i could save money buying but the effort of doing it myself then having to sell on is too much stress for me, i'm going to hire.
