A BBQ or 'Braai' for your meal may be an idea. Having lived in SA for almost 18 years myself we have chosen a wildlife park for our reception. The room we have chosen has the walls all painted in an African sunset with the silhouettes of the animals and trees so those of us who have moved over here will all appreciate it. Good luck with this and I look forward to seeing what you come up with if you keep in touch.

Thank you I am trying to combine it all the way through and will be moving to Africa in the future and yes I will be doing a colour scheme throughout and will have to have traditional food for the guests. But no idea on what suits the weddings there

Louise, having lived in South Africa for nearly 18 years I can tell you that there is not much difference as they are pretty much based on UK law and customs anyway. If it is Afrikaans then there would be more sweet food. The braai (what we call a BBQ) is traditional as is a sit down meal if that is what you prefer.
