My partner is saying not to bother with a photographer and to just let guests take photos and send them to us. Has anyone done this before and has it worked? As I am dubious and really want a photographer. Thank you ????

I know a few people who did this and they regretted! As the photos deteriorate throughout the day

I would always advise having a photographer, there was a poll a few months back and the biggest regret for weddings was not booking a photographer.

Photographs are the only lasting memories from you wedding - I would advise this is one thing you don't try to save money on - get a photographer x

The photographer is very important because you can never recapture those memories if they are not done properly. The cake will be forgotten if it goes wrong as will the meal but there is no way you can get the photographic memories if not captured well at the time.

Why don't you suggest maybe a photography student looking to build up their portfolio for a small fee for a couple of hours. This way you would get professional photos for a cheaper rate.

I'm spending all this money on my wedding, i want to make sure i have decent pictures to remember it by. To me, photographer is worth the money. Even if only half the day

We considered not getting a photographer and getting my brother to take our photos because he's really into photography but decided it would be too much pressure on him and wanted him to properly enjoy the day. We found a photographer that had only been in the business less than a year so she's only charging us £295 but her photos are great and all her reviews so far are 5*s.
