What things would you ask at a venue viewing?
How many guests can be accommodated? What menu options are available? Is there a wedding planner? How much? Who arranges what? What is included, i.e. flowers. etc etc
Maximum and minimum numbers of guests allowed? What is included in the package? What offers do they have? What menu choices are there? Do they have recommended suppliers? Are there are limitations?
Minimum and maximum numbers (for the day and for the evening)? Will your wedding be the only event/wedding on the day? Does the venue have car parking facilities? Who from the venue will be present on the actual day of the wedding? Do they have bedrooms for guests to stay in at the venues (if so do they get a discounted rate. If not do they have any relationships with nearby hotels that may offer a discount?)? Are there areas for you to get ready in? Do they offer a complimentary menu tasting (some don't - you have to pay for it!)? Is all crockery, cutlery, table linen, tables and chairs included? Do they provide a microphone for speeches? Any requirements/restrictions on any entertainment you may want to bring (e.g. fireworks, bands, outside catering, etc)? Are all prices inclusive of VAT? Is there somewhere secure to keep gifts? Do they have public liability insurance? How do deliveries/collection of decorations, supplier etc work (e.g. some will require you to arrange deliveries and collections on the day itself only)? There can be a lot of hidden costs you weren't told about when they show you around but will appear in their contracts/T&C's. These questions should eliminate a lot of the hidden costs.
