Hey, I am thinking about removing the speeches part from the dinner etc. Would I regret doing this if I do?

Completely up to you, it’s not uncommon anymore for a wedding to not have speeches. Maybe just say a few short words thanking everyone for coming?
It's very much up to you although personally I think there should be someone at some stage that thanks everyone for coming. We are moving our (short) speeches to just before the evening meal so that we get them out of the way ... and do a toast!
If you don't want them dont have them. It is your day. I would agree with other comments about thanking people.
