Hi ladies I have a question and notice of marriage. I've lost my birth certificate however I do have a valid passport but it's in my old name which I've since changed by deed poll. I don't want to renew my passport yet as I still have 2 years on it. Will they take my valid passport as proof of who I am if I take my deed poll as well to prove I've changed my name or will I have to apply for a new birth certificate? Thanks in advance

Hi it is best if you check this with the registry office :)

To be honest I would want to have a copy of my birth certificate. It can be done on www.gov.uk and is relatively cheap.

I had to get my birth certificate. If I remember correctly it was pretty easy to get one. You call the office in the region you were registered and they send it out. I think it cost about £12.50. It was about 5 years ago I did this so please excuse me for being a little vague xx

If you renew your passport early they usually transfer over any remaining time you had on it to the new passport so you don't lose out

I've changed my name via deedpoll. When we went to give notice I had to bring my birth certificate (also didn't have a copy so ordered one), deed poll certificates and my mum's birthday certificate. X
