hi bit of a random one. We visited quite a few venues and found one we loved and put a deposit down. However since then everytime I seem to look at tripadvispr it seems to be getting Bad reviews all of a sudden. They were mainly positve before we booked but recently there seem to be a fair few negative ones creeping in. Am I being paranoid do you think? To be fair all the wedding reviews are 5 star. The negative ones seem to be about the hotel rooms really. I feel a bit disheartened by it

Maybe you could call them and explain your concern. It may be that they have changed management and it may also be that they are due a refurbishment. By speaking to them you will find out. Ask to go see them if necessary.

Check.out most places on Trip.advisor..none have 100% good record. You can't please everyone. Everywhere has bad reviews.

I have read that some hotels concentrate big time on the wedding side of things but let things slip a bit when it comes to simple accommodation! Weddings are where the money is after all! Maybe it’s that?

Our venue is the same tbf, some negative reviews usually to do with the rooms. It doesn't really bother me too much...some people are just negative and like to have a whinge! Just being keyboard warriors. I think you would be hard pushed to find a venue that doesnt have at least some negative reviews.

There’s always some complaints, you’ve got to look at them all together. Don’t forget no matter what you do you can’t please some people and they’ll complain about the smallest thing.

People always complain before they make positive reports! Ring and speak to the company. See their side! Ask them your questions to get the right answer and not Chinese whisper ones from other people..

How often do people go out of their way to write a positive review compared to a negative one.....I reckon you will be ok. But if it's really bothering you speak to the venue staff!

TripAdvisor is the worst site for reviews. People abuse it to get free stuff from hotels and restaurants and are very vocal about minor issues and too many people don't bother leaving a review for good service unless it was exeptional. I wouldn't worry to much. Depending on the venue have a look on a few different sites? Even though the problem still will be that more people complain rather than you give positive feedback.

My venue has some bad reviews about some rooms in the older side of hotel, there was a plan in place to knock it down for the hs2 thingy so they put refurb on hold due to this! Now it's being moved refurb will happen, tho it will be after my wedding it's the venue I fell in love with and the room is a small part of your special day xx

The same thing has happened with our venue. We stayed there over night for a treat and the rooms were lovely. I think some people moan whatever

Whoever looks after the rooms are a completely different team to those who will organise your wedding. If the wedding ones are mostly good then I don't think you need to worry. If they are reviewing at this time of year - the rise is potentially because it is a busy time of year (with Christmas parties) that sometimes during this time service can slip a bit.

Talk to the venue - ask them what they're doing about it to improve
