Hi Ladies! I am getting married in May at the Basingstoke Register office and have to choose my music. I need music for guests to assemble, my entrance (escorted by my dad), signing the papers and exit. How did you choose your songs? And how does it work? As soon as the 'entrance song' starts, the registrar announces the bride and you enter? I am clueless as haven't attended many weddings as an adult! Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

From the weddings i have been to, usually there is a wedding coordinator telling you when you and your bridesmaids go in, however the this wasnt at registrar offices. im sure there if you speak to them theyll be able to tell you what will happen. as for music choose what means something to you both. good luck on your big day x

We’re finding acoustic versions of our favourite songs and putting them on a CD to play in the church and the venue during our day until the Dj comes on. apart from the other songs we’re having for our first dance etc. your venue should have a toast master who will do all that for you, better to ask them! And tell them exactly what you want they’ll always go out of there way to help you (they should do) or your best man can do it or maid of honour! There’s always a way around it. If your getting married in a church then you should have a ‘rehearsal’ a week or two before so you know what to do as what to expect. That’s what our victor told us anyway. Not sure about a civil ceremony x

I would choose songs that are meaningful to the two of you or fit with your theme. Acoustic versions are very popular these days. I suggest speaking to the registry office to see if they have a standard way they do things or if you can dictate what you want.

You need 4 songs one for guests waiting one to walk down the aisle one for signing the register and one to exit

Our assembly music was a playlist of upbeat love songs, mostly punk, new wave and 60s Freakbeat. My entrance song was The Ramones' (yes Primark shoppers, they're a punk band, not a flipping baseball team!) version of Baby I Love You, our signing songs were Marry Me by Sparks and Softly to Me by Arthur Lee and Love and then my exit song was What is Life by George Harrison. Just pick the songs that mean the world to you both.

Unless your registry office is like mine and the only song they tell you they will play at a precise point is your entrance song and it has to be track one on your CD. Maybe email them and they will be able to tell you. Each registry office is different.

My entrance music was my dad's favourite song as he's no longer with us. They play the song and there should be a member of staff outside the room with you who will send your bridesmaids in then you follow xx
