Save the date cards... do you send them out to just guests who are spending the full day with you or do you give one to the guests that are just attending evening too?

Give them to people that are attending the whole wedding. We feel evening guests will think they’re invited to the whole wedding and we’ll be in an awkward situation :)

I've sent save the date cards to day guests and save the evening cards to evening guests.

I had save the date and save the evening. I sent them out a year before so people knew where they stood as a lot of people will assume they are invited to the whole day xx

I was just as confused but decided only to send them to day guests incase we have many cancel so we can bump some evening guests up. If you send save the evening then I think it sounds quite definite so would be awkward to bump people up the list

We have done save the day cards and save the evening cards so all guests know what part(s) they are invited to.

I made a picture up on my phone and have text people it as I’m not too bothered about sending actual save the dates and on a tight budget so it saves money too!

Waste of time Americanized thing save the date. I know loads of you have been doing it, but I never bothered just wedding day and night invites 6-8 weeks b4. Up to you though. I've had save the date given to me and I don't know if it's for the day or evening...

Just the day guests as the evening guests don't need to save the whole day to attend just the evening reception, I do understand people's confusion but if I was confused when getting the save the date is at least know for sure i going to get the invite to following so that'd clear any confusion up for myself personally. I won't be doing save the evening cards though, my save the dates are costing way to much to go down that route also X

We have done save the day and save the evening so they know which part their invited too also gives the evening guests more notice

Our numbers for the wedding itself are very limited so I've had no choice but to split mine into 3 groups and have sent Save the Dates to the wedding and afternoon guests, will just send invites to evening guests x

I think if you have a wedding during prime holiday time you should send save the dates to day guests so that people know what dates to avoid booking their holidays on, if they want to attend your wedding. Most people book holidays well in advance so giving them plenty of notice is good, also lots of venues want final numbers about 4 weeks in advance if you only send out your invites with 6 weeks notice you're only giving them 2 weeks to RSVP - putting quite a bit of pressure on yourself. Guests may also have to make arrangements for their children (if you aren't inviting children) and accommodation if they are travelling plenty of notice means they can take advantage of early booking fees.
