Hi we were advised by the caterer to cater for 3/4 of our evening guests :)

My venue will not under cater as they say it reflects badly on them if there’s not enough food.
But for most evening events I would only cater for 3/4 of the guests as many will have already eaten. And I count two children as 1 head

Most venues will advise a minimum of 75 or 80 percent of your evening guests need to be catered for, so check with them. If they don't have a minimum, I'd advise more toward the 75% mark. X

It's usually advised around 80%. Not everybody eats unless it is a sit down meal. Depending on what time you sit down to have your meal (if you're having one), some of your day guests may not bother with the evening buffet.

I think it depends on your crowd. We are having 160ish and will cater for that many as most are from the farming community and are likely to come straight from working with no food, with some likely to eat for two people so makes up for those who may not eat. Think about who you are inviting, distance they need to travel to get there etc.

I personally would rather have too much than not enough because I've been to events before and they be ran out of food (me and my family LOVE food!! ) so if rather have some to take home lol

Professional caterers suggested we do all evening guests and half day guests!

It depends what you are having for ur evening buffet. I’m having sandwiches and got told by the venue that they go further than hot dishes so should cater for half of the number of evening guests. If it’s hot food ur having they suggested around 75%... Just remember that not everyone will eat x

I've been told by more than one wedding planner if kids are of primary school age count 2 of them as 1. Toddlers and younger don't count. My package is for 80 catered guests and I can have 100 people for that buffet amount

Mine is 80%, we are having our 3 course meal at 4pm then buffet is around 9:30pm, I also have a sweet cart, chocolate kebab, popcorn and candy floss which will be out earlier so I’m guessing we will have a fair bit left

Depends on what you having.. we were advised 75% of the guest but we are having bacon roll and telling. People to eat before hand

It’s advised at 80% but if you have guests that have eaten a sit down meal with you I’d go with 70-75%.
