Hi everyone, we are having a destination wedding in August 2019. I wonder when is the best time to send out Save the Dates and invites? We have already booked the venue and were thinking about sending out Save the Dates soon and then next year this time sending the invites. I always read online that invites should be send around 3 months before the wedding but I don't think that is enough time for the guests and for us to plan our big day without the stress. What does everyone else think? Thanks x

Hi about 8-6 months before the wedding :)

Three months for invitations is definitely not long enough. We have asked for our replies by 2 months before so that we have time to follow up with people if necessary as venue needs to have final figures a month in advance.

3 months is not long enough. As you’re getting married in August I would personally send your save the dates about a year an a half before your wedding and then the invites a year before. I’ve worked in a job where people book their holidays a year to 2 in advance and August is the first to go.
Hope this helps :)

Save the dates are usually sent 9-12 months before with invitations being sent 3-6 months before

I'd get save the dates sent out asap that way people have a longer notice to be able to book or save if they need too.
Were sending invites out 6 months before as I don't think 3 months is enough

Get your save the dates out as soon as possible - maybe mention on them it will be abroad so people know to put some money away for it. I would say send the invites out as early as 6 months - a year before the wedding. The 3 months before the wedding you have been reading about is more related to weddings at home, abroad weddings need a lot more planning on your guests behalf.

It's never too soon to send save the dates especially with a summer wedding. I get married in August next year and sent Save the Dates in August 2016. I sent my invitations last month and I'm glad I did as accommodation near by is starting to book up. I'm getting married in the same country and my guests have said they are happy to have been given the time to organise themselves. A destination wedding will require more saving and planning for guests so I'd say to send your Save the Dates any time now. Maybe wait until January so they don't get lost in the Christmas cards.
