How much is “too much” to spend on a honeymoon? How much has everyone...

How much is “too much” to spend on a honeymoon? How much has everyone spent on honeymoon? We have a couple of quotes around £8000 for a multi destination honeymoon... is there any nice destinations that can be done cheaply?!

Everyone does holidays differently so whatever you can afford to spend on a honeymoon really.
Secret escapes comes up with some great deals so might be worth having a look at

I feel that £8000 is a lot of money. We are going to Mauritius for a week and we've done it all for £2,600

Go wherever you want to go and spend what feels right. It could be as near as France or far away as Fiji, it's your wonderful honeymoon but obviously price reflects distance. Good luck in finding your dream destination xx

It really depends on you and what you can afford.

We’re going multiple destinations but will book individually (we’ve found this to be cheaper sometimes but will look nearer the booking time) we are looking at a 3 destination honeymoon but have found anything with Honeymoon or Wedding in front of it just puts the price up.
Italy is gorgeous to explore around and is cheap (in less touristy areas, Rome is a rip off) Croatia is also as beautiful and you can take a Cataman to different islands (Hvar is perfect but around June/July it turns into a party island) me and my H2B done a road trip around the Bulkans and would highly recommend any of them.
It does depend on what you can afford though 😊
Good luck :)

I think honeymoon is definitely a good opportunity to spend more than you normally would on a holiday. We are booking things separately via booking.com and Expedia as it’s cheaper. We are going to America and booked our flights 11 months in advance so got an amazing deal. Happy Honeymooning

Everyone is different, go with what you can comfortably afford. Everyone's budget is different. I'm looking to go to New York for mine because we're not ones for beach holidays or sunbathing so we can only afford around 4-5 nights there. Just shop around and maybe seek different destinations to get the price down x

We went to Berlin for our honeymoon as we were told to book one as a gift and it was somewhere we both wanted to go. Booked basic flights and a middle of the line hotel but spent a fortune of fine dining and seeing all we wanted to when we got there, to us it was one of our most wanted trips.

Think about places you really want to go to and look at them, package holidays as well as build your own flight, hotel, trips and transfer holidays and see what works out best for you xx

We spent around three grand on a week long cruise around Europe. This included food and drink. Explored different cities during the day and sailed to the next destination over night. There was loads of different things to do on board aswell so it was something we can't wait to try and do again. X

I think everyone will differ it depends how much you earn , how much you have saved etc. How long you are going and what level of accom you will be staying in. At the time of booking our wedding we were also buying a house and renovating it but still wanted a holiday of a lifetime. Luckily we already had quite a bit saved up (we had been together 6 years) Think about how much you can realistically afford to pay out in the next few months and also think about spending money for when you are there. Don't go booking something that is way over budget and risk been stressed about final payment. You will be paying loads out for little extras for the wedding in the lead up to it :) X

We decided that our honeymoon was a once in a lifetime ... so we’ve gone for the best of everything and ours has cost just short of £7500 .. 2 weeks AI in the Dominican Republic, flight upgrades, best rooms etc etc

We’ve booked 5 nights in Sri Lanka as a tour with a private driver and then 10 nights in the Maldives for £6300. Spend what you can afford and want- ours is once in a lifetime trip.

"Too much" is putting yourself in a position where you're unable to pay for it or your daily life. If you have 8k,then that's your choice

Have you tried STA travel they have loads of Multicentre trips and you can make one up to suit you and your partner. Think you may need to find your own accommodation but may be cheaper that way.

“Too much” .... is spending money that you can’t afford or would be paying off for years

Our honeymoon was what ever destinations our air miles would take us too... saving vast amounts on flights meant we could stay for 3weeks in St Lucia

There's only as much as you're happy to spend!! For me nearly 2 weeks in Iceland totalled to £4000. Only one destination but particularly expensive place.

We went to corralejo in fuerteventura. Absolutely stunning. Stayed in a beautiful hotel. Booked through jet2holidays. 2 weeks all inclusive, meals on plane, extra leg room, transfers and luggage and insurance was £1800. We loved it that much we are saving to move there. Highly recommend. I say pay what you can afford. You only get the one honeymoon. If you can afford it, go for it. X

We went to Cuba for 2 weeks and were just over £2k all inclusive for us both. No way could I justify spending £8k on a honeymoon when that extra money could be used for so much more.

We're going to Guadeloupe, staying on the beach for 10 days. Done our own flights and booking a 2 bed apartment in deshaies, under £2000 and the apartment is only one of 2 so local and not faceless x

We paid around £6k for 3 nights Singapore, 5 nights Lombok and 8 nights in two places in Bali. We saw it as a once in a lifetime trip but it depends what you feel you can afford. What we did find when getting quotes is that our money went a lot futher in terms of hotel standard in indonesia (and also thailand when we considered there) than it would have done for places like the maldives, california, hawaii.. we were lucky enough to stay in some incredible hotels for this price but you could definitely still get luxury ones there for cheaper!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 23 Nov 2017

We're doing singapore and bali (3 different places in Bali) for 2 weeks, £3000, and that's for villas with private pools. It's definitely possible to get luxury for a lesser price x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 23 Nov 2017

We used our honeymoon as a once in a lifetime chance to be selfish and do whatever we wanted. We went to Florida for 2 weeks, booked a villa so we could have our own pool etc. And even hired a super fancy convertible that we knew we'd never be able to afford back at home. Like everyone has said, only you know what is too much and what you can afford. Don't be afraid to splash out if you want to x

We are going to Croatia and travelling a bit round the islands, £8000 is a lot of money to spend on a honey moon x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Nov 2017

£8000 is a lot of money. We have found several holidays to Mexico and the Dominican Republic for less than £5000. That's including room upgrades and premium seats on the flight! there's plenty of great deals around. I'd suggest going into a travel agents with a budget and see what they can come up with. When We went in, we ended up getting a couple of hundred knocked off the price! Good luck! xx

Your honeymoon depends on what you want and can afford. It doesn't really matter how much it costs as long as you both enjoy it. We usually go on really fancy holidays at really good prices. We get the deals usually by hard research and booking everything separately. Anything that says honeymoon will rip you off. We got married 8 weeks ago and our honeymoon is not until March. My advice is don't overstretch yourself to what you can't afford. In the last 3 weeks of our wedding loads went wrong that easily added 3k to the cost that we didn't expect! X

Have what you can afford. As long as it's not going on a credit card then what does it matter.

Hi. To be honest that's an impossible question to answer, even for a travel specialist like me! As an example I've organised and booked honeymoons for under £1000 for couples who couldn't be more happy. Its all about what you want, not how much it costs. If you haven't already booked anything I'd be happy to help you out. You can message me here, Steve Friend - Brilliant Travel
