I'm so glad you are going to give it a go. Just try not to let that excitement show to your ex or by the sounds of it he will do his best to spoil things. Maybe don't tell your children any details or they may inadvertently pass them back.

My h2bs ex is just like this she will do her upmost to ruin everything we plan! So we can’t even say the date or anything around his children as she asks a lot of questions

Things started to get very awkward between us when my youngest daughter asked her dad if he though mummy (me) was pretty. He laughed and said 'of course mummy's pretty you look just like her...' very awkward.
