Has anyone thought about making their own wedding rings? We've looked at high street jewellers and the rings are ok but expensive and nothing jumps out at us. Seeing as we both just want plain bands I thought it would be easy for us to make them ourselves (go to a jewellry workshop) I have some knowledge of metal work but my OH doesn't but I can imagine it being quite fun and personal. Thoughts?

Sounds a lovely idea ❤️
Dud you try going to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham? The savings you can make are huge!

The wedding shop in Hatton Garden (if that's not too far for you) do a ring workshop so you make each others ring. We didn't do that, but had my H2B' s ring made there for us, really good quality, prices are reasonable, due to there being no middle man and all rings made on site. really nice little shop. They will also certify the ring and give you an insurance quote for the rings. Good luck

We are having our rings made from a local jeweller using diamonds from my mums engagement ring, I had my engagement ring made as well and its beautiful, you get exactly what you want and save lots of money

Vikky, I think that sounds like a lovely idea ... both practical and romantic.

Do it!!!

We made our rings with Victoria at The Quarter Workshop in Birmingham - very very affordable and now we are wearing rings made by each other. My wedding band fits neatly around my odd shaped engagement ring.

We also took our photographer who used this as our engagement shoot so we have lots of pictures from the day too x

I had mine made at Drip Gold in the Jewellery quarter ... the ladies are amazing and they’ve given me exactly what I want ... so much so my HTB has had an eternity ring to match my wedding ring made ... would recommend them 100% ...

I love that idea. Plain bands should be easy enough to do, if you would have gone for something a bit more complicated it would have been a bit too difficult I think but plain banda should be possible. It is most definitely a nice personal idea.

I recommend Magnus & Bella in the jewelery quarter. Their bespoke jewellery is stunning and I know friends who've had pieces made by them that are so beautiful and bespoke.

I looked into that, but found it quite an expensive way of doing it. If you’re anywhere near Norwich or BlueWater, Alba Rose is very reasonable and really good. We got both of ours for the price my fiancé’s would’ve been elsewhere x

We made our own rings - it was a fab day and we got exactly what we wanted. I am in Norfolk. This is mine made to fit around my engagement ring. Hubble had a signet ring.

We got ours off facebook. A company in the US posts free rings all the time. We just paid postage of a whooping... £13. They are made of titanium the ones we have and are unique. We absolutely love them x

Two Become One Jewellery are amazing jewellers that made our rings for us. We didn't want ones from a high street store as my husband wanted something unusual so Wade (The jeweller) designed and hand engraved my husband's and it's amazing. He made mine (a plain band) to match the shape and size of my engamenet ring perfectly. They are also really reasonable for prices too. Having someone else make it for you where you can have input on the design might be good idea for you.

Me and my fiance made each other's wedding rings and we loved it! It made it so personal and cannot wait to be wearing the ring he made from scratch for me. We went to Scarlett Erskine in Dundee and she was fab. Neither of us had done anything like this before but she showed us step by step and it was so much fun :) x
