Most evening receptions begin around 7.30pm so personally I don’t see the issue. There’s normally a break for around half an hour anyways so 4 hours is a perfectly acceptable length of time.

You haven't added anytime in for speeches? Are you also throwing your bouquet? This can be done during the party section to break it up a bit. Starting your disco start time is ok just ensure that allow some time for contingency.

Sounds fab. My only thing with your day is that your day guests are going to have breakfast and then not be fed until 7.30 at night, depending on the cost of the safari, id invite the evening guests for 7pm and utilise the money it would cost for their safari to provide some kind of food for your day guests. Canapés are lovely, but they’re not a meal.
Our DJ started at 6pm with speeches prior to arrival of our evening guest at 7, food at 7.30 x

A dj for most parties whether it be a wedding reception, engagement party or a birthday party, usually start about 7.30pm until midnight so I think it's fine. People will be eating and talking so I wouldn't pay out for more entertainment

Thank you all for the reassurance regarding timescales, the dj comes with the venue, so will talk to him again and hopefully he will seem more positive!
