Hello! We are planning a wedding on private land. Will hold a ceremony in a church. But will want a marquee for the wedding breakfast and evening party. Has anyone done this? Any tips and advice? Thank you!

There is a website that puts you in touch suppliers for events ... you just have to put in what you want. They do all the marquees and portaloos etc. https://www.addtoevent.co.uk

Hi! Yes I have a private venue, I've booked a church and a marquee covering the tennis courts... don't go there!

That's what I wanted for my wedding but when I checked at marquees prices I changed my mind.

I have planned loads. I am a wedding planner. Depending where you are I may be able to help. There are other cheaper alternatives to the very expensive marquis. Have a look at Capri marquees. They are significantly cheaper.

i am having a church wedding and a marquee in my partners field.. i thought it would be cheaper.. but it's cost us loads.. the marquee cost us about £5500, thats with toilets, lighting, flooring & a small generator (we need to get another one) x

If you're having music/entertainment you'll need to apply for a temporary event notice

We did exactly this! And I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Our marquee company provided us with everything we needed for it - flooring, lighting, dance floor, tables and chairs, table cloths. We then decorated it ourselves with hanging lanterns and table centre pieces. We hired a DJ, catering, photo booth, Bar and 2 toilets.
Make sure you have enough power as it all takes up A LOT! And think about outside lighting and seating. Good luck! X

My best friend had this. Lots of things have been said above. But one thing that happened to them was the generator broke down at one point. The groom had to fix it. Without having a planner person there in total control of everything meant it didn't fall into anyone's job. That's the only thing they wish they had was a planner/ host to organise the smooth running.

What I loved about my friends was that we then all brought out tents and camped over that night there

Don't do it! Relatives of mine did this thinking it would save them money, took 2 days to set it all up, a day to take it all down, and cost significantly more than if they had just used a wedding venue as well as being far more hard work and stress!

We have planned that and our tipis and catering is the same as a hotel would cost but we have been able to choose all that we want. Use all connections that you have. E.g. our generator is coming from someone we know through farming and have researched a lot of toilets and got the cheapest. Marquee and tipi suppliers should now who are good in your area.
