Thoughts on a thursday wedding?? The venue we like is booked up for fri/sat/sun when we want to get married next year
We've had to book ours for a Wednesday next year as a Friday Saturday and Sunday were booked or too expensive. We come to the conclusion that the people who mean the most to us will book the day off work and ensure they make it no matter what. We also had to think what was more important to us, the venue or the day of the week we got married, that's why went for a Wednesday in the end. Hope this helps! Good luck :)
Mid week is always a good idea. You will find photographers and other bits are cheaper.
Just be conscious if you have any close family or friends that are teachers as they will not be able to get the time off work unless you book it during the school holidays. If the can't come it doesn't mean they don't care it means they can't get the time off work.
H I would jump at it a midweek wedding is cheaper :)
I had a Thursday wedding...was a lot cheaper and as long you give family and friends plenty of notice for work etc then works out fine...plus you get to party and celebrate all weekend to ..win win
We got married on a Thursday everyone booked a day off that needed one it was a lovely day
We are having a Thursday wedding.. We really wanted may and that was the only date we could do as the venue had other events on.
I'm a TA and my auntie is a head teacher and both of us are fine to be off work. - I'd defionately give people plenty of notice though (save the dates and invites early) so they can book the time needed off work.
It's also tons cheaper, we got nearly £2000 off the venue & most of our suppliers (photographer etc) have given us small discounts because it's a Thursday wedding.. so that's a bonus! Xx
I’ve booked a Thursday wedding during the summer holidays (I’m a teacher) apart from the venue nothing else seems to have a discount. My hope is people will take theFriday off work and enjoy a nice long weekend 🙂
We're having a Thursday. Falls on bank holiday weekend so 5 day weekend for all
Ours is a Monday
We’re having a Thursday wedding because it’s £6000 (6!!!!) cheaper. We’re keeping it quite small and we figure the people who matter will have no problem booking a long weekend. None of them are teachers and no school age kids coming though.
I am doing a Thursday wedding as our venue free rent on a week day and caterers are 25% cheaper on weekday x
My cousin and his wife just had a wedding last Thursday. It looked lovely. I didn’t go as not that close but looked like a lot went. X
We’re having a Wednesday wedding as so much cheaper, not only with venue but other suppliers as well. I’m a teacher so we’ll be doing it during summer holidays. I also took into account that because of working term time the honeymoon would be more expensive regardless so decided to save a little on the day itself by doing it midweek
We did Thursday. No issues as long as you give guests plenty notice
We’re thinking of having ours on a Wednesday, just to keep the costs down as our budget isn’t huge
Ours is going to be a Thursday, we wanted the date because it will be our 5 year anniversary, and we managed to get our wedding more than half price 😊 as long as you give plenty notice if people want to come they will! Xxx
We've booked a Thursday wedding - it's much cheaper/better value for the exact same package. Ours also falls on a bank holiday (Good Friday /Easter Monday) so people only have to take 1 day off and get a 5 day weekend xx
I'm having a Tuesday. Everything is so much cheaper. Only had issues with one guest not being able to leave her kids with their gran due to being a teacher. Other than that everyone is coming and we've got loads for our money!
We booked a Thursday in August, much cheaper than fri and weekend and everyone we wanted to book was available so we're able to get exactly what we want!!!!
Mine is a thursday because h2b is head chef and his second chef is a groomsman. I work in a nursery so have booked during school hols x
We are thinking a Monday because its the anniversary of proposal 😍
We are getting married on a Thursday as fell in love with our venue. It is so much cheaper than a weekend and given everyone enough notice. We’d rather have venue of our dreams on a Thursday than not at all.People who love you will understand and be there xxx💕❤️
We are getting married on a Thursday. Its your day and people will get time off if they really want to come. If they dont then even better as you will save even more money
We're having a Thursday wedding, we didn't plan it that way but we are getting married on our anniversary and that's the day it fell on. We haven't sent out invites yet but everyone we have spoken to has said it's a great chance to have a long weekend. The only thing to consider is if any of your guests are teachers as they will struggle to get the time off.
We got married on a Monday in August and didn’t have one decline x every guest we invited came x
Give plenty of notice so people can get time off. Remember this may not be possible for schools!
I am a teacher and i know the school i work at allows us to have the time off during the week for weddings for family and close friends. So I wouldn't freek out if you have teacher friends- there is always a possibility that they could go on a Thursday!
We are having a Thursday wedding. We have done ours in the school holidays though to allow family with kids to attend.
As a wedding photographer the thing I would say about midweek is a lot of people will leave early as they have work the next day, so it depends how bothered you are about the party after, if your not big drinkers or prefer a quiet get together I would say go for it x
My wedding is on a Thursday. Everyone who we have mentioned it to have said they will just book a day off work for it x
We are getting married on a Thursday, saved us so much money. Also with inviting people just invite them people that mean the most will turn up.
We're having ours on a thursday! Its cheaper and I'm giving everyone plenty of time to book work off (sending save the dates out soon and the wedding is a year off)
