Hi! My wedding venue includes a florist within our package. I met the florist at a wedding Fayre recently but won’t be having a consultation with him till next year. He said when we meet I should come with a budget in mind but I have absolutely no idea how much flowers cost?! Can any one give me a vague idea?
I hate it when people ask what your budget is. I would be inclined to put together what you would love, what you would be very happy with and what you could manage with so that he could give you a price for each and then you could negotiate. Be prepared that fresh flowers are very expensive.
He'll be asking for a budget so that he can suggest ideas that would work for you without being unaffordable. Look around at other local florists to get a sense of what it will cost - but tell the florist what you can comfortably afford (keeping a secret contingency in mind) and what you would ideally like in terms of bouquets, buttonholes and venue decor. You may need to compromise to stay within costs but ultimately he'll want to keep you happy to ensure he retains a good word of mouth rep.
If it's included in your package I'm not sure why you would have to pay? X
I thought the flowers were included within your package?
Does it included or recommend him? xx
For a teardrop bouquet, 3 bridesmaids 2 flowergirls, 2 mother coursages and 6 button holes we have paid £360 in NE England x
My wedding is next a
August and I just booked my flowers and I'm paying 550£ .
If it's included in. Your package then you shouldn't have to pay at all... if it's recommended then that exactly why it is recommended..., you don't have to go with that florist you can shop around. My venue came with lots of recommended suppliers but we didn't use any of them. X
I paid £150 for fresh baby's breath ,
white roses , white gerberas ,white orchids , purple orchids , eucalyptus leaves & brought them from a website www.trianglenursery.co.uk
& my girlfriends & I made them into bouquets , buttonholes & reception table decorations .....
Flowers vary so much I paid nearly £800 but that was my bouquet 2 adult bridesmaids 2 children's flower wands 3 ladies corsages 6 buttonholes and 5 big table centrepieces and that was with a discount! X
I’m paying £60 for my bouquet, £30 for bridesmaid bouquets (theirs are just gypsophelia) and £5 each for buttonholes.
If the flowers are included in your package then the florist will have some sort of agreement with the venue as to how much allocation he gets for them. You shouldn't have to pay more. X
If the florist is part of the package (not recommended) I would ask first of all, what is included in the package price. I had this with our room decor who are supplying our centre peices. Some of the centre peices we looked at were an "extra charge item" As we don't want to spend over what we are already paying I asked them what "is included" and chose from that selection
I got a cheaper deal as I used the venues florist for my wedding flowers. It cost us just under £360 for
Bridal bouquet
4 x bridesmaids bouquets
13 x buttonholes
7 x wrist coursages.
X
We paid £450 for bride's bouquet, 5 bridesmaids,1 junior bouquet and 7 button holes
I had various quotes at different florists and I asked for the exact same at each... from £350 - £700. Places just get pretentious and stupid when the word wedding is used. The lady I went with was fab and was the cheapest. All flowers look lovely anyway so to me it really didn’t matter how elaborate it all became... if your on a budget then be frank with the florist if you’re not so restricted then see what he comes up with.
My wedding was the same and my centre pieces were all included in the package no extra cost. I then got 3 bouquets 3 corsages and 11 button holes for £360. It was all fresh flowers and I was gobsmacked at how reasonable it was. And they looked great x
Ha! I had my boquet & 2 of what my daughter had here for 11£ (God bless Aldi!) & 6 buttonholes off a company off ebay for 12£. No way in hell was I going to pay a florist for that.
