That is what I am doing for my wedding. High Tea in the afternoon followed by a barbecue in the evening

Definitely do at least one as a hot meal as I went to a wedding where it was afternoon tea and then buffet in the evening and I was starving all day x

I went to one, they had scones, sandwiches and a selection of cakes then a hog roast in the eve. Was a amazing day, the food made it more social then a sit down meal. Deff a wedding i will remember

This is what we had and was lovely :) afternoon tea was more relaxed than a formal meal which was how we wanted it x

We are having afternoon tea, it was the first thing we decided on. And then burgers and hotdogs in the evening. Afternoon tea is really filling so not all day guests will want evening food, x

We are having a buffet and a hog roast in the evening.

We are making our buffet ourselves between family to save money. As we make cricket teas 6 months of the year so its only making double the amount.
Just want a relaxed wedding plus we have a few kiddies including our own so sit down meal isnt really functional for us. X

We had afternoon tea then a hot buffet. There was a lot of food but the venue did lots of cakes and less sandwiches, so people were confused about what they were supposed to eat (someone on one table ate all the sandwiches and others had to go without). I'd say either make sure there's plenty or make sure people know what they're supposed to eat. Also definitely make sure the buffet has plenty of hot food, it's a long day for people to not have a hot meal.

We did this - our reception was in a tea shop in Manchester (Richmond Tea Rooms) and they did afternoon tea for all our guests on arrival, and then hot finger food later on in the evening. It can work really nicely, especially if your wedding is early in the afternoon, so the timings work out well.

I did, the only thing i would say is, depending on how they serve it, its over a lot quicker than a normal meal so may want to think about timings x

We're having an ending buffet and putting snacks on the tables with access to tea and coffee to tide everyone over till then.

I went to a wedding with afternoon tea and there was just not enough food for the table so make sure you do plenty. We were hungry till the evening when the hog roast was served (which was amazing) but by then a lot of people were very drunk as not had enough to eat!!

We had a picnic instead of afternoon tea as we wanted enough food not just cakes and sweets and it went down an absolute treat everyone told us how much they loved it then we had hot pork batches in the evening

I'm doing the same, afternoon tea then hot buffet in evening. We love afternoon tea so it was the perfect choice for us x
