#memerrequest I picked my wedding dress up at the weekend. I am not getting married until next December but the dress came in a lot earlier than expected. The only alterations that need doing is someway of lifting the train for the reception as it has nothing at the moment. The shop have said that I can have a bustle made when I go back in September for alterations but couldn't give me a price. This is literally the only thing that needs doing. My question is how much can I expect to pay for this to be done? The train isn't very long

The shop should have given you prices on alterations. I’ve chosen my dress and they’re keeping it for me untill closer to do date I get married. And a little alteration needs doing and they gave me a rough price when I asked x

I asked how much a bustle was and it was £50 that was for 3 rings underneath
More of you added more or you could hve a French bustle which is on top just depends on type of dress x

I paid 25 for a bustle and 25 for a wrist loop to be put on my dress think it depends on your seamstress, i didnt know how much my alterations were going to cost until my first fitting x

Shouldn’t be too much, my dress was taken in two sizes and had about 4 fittings in the 2 weeks leading to the wedding and needed bringing in a further 3 times so close to the day, it was all lace and beaded so all had to be removed and restitched every alteration and it cost £100 for all that so a simple bustle should be reasonable, shop around now you have your dress you aren’t limited to the bridal store you bought from :)

Hi,
I own a bridal shop and have seen my seamstress do a few different style of bustle. Is say a good figure to budget would be £20-£40 xx

Unless you've paid for an alterations package already ask around for some prices at local seamstress' - having worked in bridal wear it's a really simple alteration to do so you should be looking at 20-40 max

I found an independent seamstress and it cost £60 to be taken in 4 inches around bust. Have straps added and bustle. Cant imagine it will cost much but I did find shops charge a lot more

I paid £50 for an invisible hook to be put in. This then connected up and tied into the corset lace to lift the train! It was perfect xx

They probably didn't give you a price in case the pricing goes up by the time you need it done. Or in case you need any other alterations by then and they can offer a deal.
Don't know about bustles as I didn't need one but it only cost £60 for me to get my dress took in and freshly steamed so wouldn't expect it would cost much just for a bustle.

I paid £15 in total for a bustle and to get the sash shortened x

A bustle can either be a loop and button to lift up the skirt or several ties under the dress to pull the train up under the dress. You can also take the dress anywhere for alterations so call about and get rough prices. My shop charged £180 but that was all alterations no matter how many and how challenging xx

I paid £150 for all my dress alterations as I bought it whilst pregnant. It needed taking in 2 sizes, taking up at the bottom as I was wearing flats and she reinforced my bottom button so I could lift my train up. It was then free to have it realtered the week before as I had gained weight xx

I had to have a loop and button added for hitching the train up in the evening and a slight alteration on the shoulders. Think we were charged £95
