We are not sending save the dates but have spoken to people who are important to us so that they have it in the diary. If you are sending them it is a good idea to specify whether it is day or evening.

We have sent out save the date cards to just the guests for the actual wedding, and we will have separate evening reception invites,

Save the date and save the evening. Day ones said formal invitation to follow and evening ones day evening invitation to follow.

Doing day and night as I know some guests assume they are going to be invited to the day but due to limited numbers they can't be so want to make it clear before I send out invites x

We started to send "pencil us in" cards to everybody as they seemed more generic and less specific and quickly realised that people automatically thought they were getting an all day invite. We had to quickly explain to the few evening guests that it was evening only and didn't send anymore evening ones out.

Just sent save the dates, not specified a time reference. But then again we're having a church wedding so would be able have everyone there anyway.

We have made fridge magnets printed on pc, with date & time & venue on.. wedding & reception for some & just reception for others.. So they work as a reminder & a momento of the day, so dont need favours..

I've had the save the dates made up and put at the bottom of them underneath the date : " invitation Specifying Day Or Evening To Follow" so that everyone doesn't assume they are invited for the whole day (as we cannot afford that!!) x
