Hi everyone... We are getting married on Sunday 9th September 2018 in a different district to where we live and need to give notice of our marriage at the local office. We have just bought a house together so we still live in different districts. I know we both have to give notice at our own local registry office but when do we have to do this? The email from the registrar says 12-10 months but everywhere else says up to 1 month before the ceremony. HELP!

Is it 12 months up to 1 month before the ceremony? Thanks.

It can take around 6 weeks to process the notice but the sooner you do it the better just in case. You can do it anytime between 12 months and 1 month before, just bear in mind the processing time. Hope this helps.

As others have said, it is no later than a month before and no earlier than a year before.

It really varies between councils.

Hi, it's anytime from 12months to 1month but our registrar recommended doing it the same year you are getting married, we marry Sept so are planning on notice in jan

Giving notice is valid for 12 months but needs to be at least a month before you get married. Be aware though that they book up quite far in advance so dont leave it too late x
