Hi as many of you will know I have pretty much got everything under control. We get married in May 2018 and the one BIG thing I haven't sourced is my photographer and Im struggling. Neither Tony nor I feel very comfortable with photographs and I have left this task pushing it to the back in the somewhat vain hope it will go away. Don't get me wrong I don want some beautiful pictures but I don't feel comfortable with me being in the pics. Those photographers that I have spoken to are really expensive starting at £1400 going up to over £4000. Like everyone we are on a budget and to be honest I could just about manage the lower figure. Give me some advice my bridal friends please
Where are you located? I am in Hertfordshire and was looking through the links on this site the other day when I found one in North London around £700 (under suppliers on this site). We also feel like you about photographs but at the same time will want some.
Hi £4000 is very steep there should be some cheaper ones out there :)
Personally I would go to some wedding fairs so you can meet with the photographers. You can normally get a discounted price there too. The prices you are quoting are high to very high. Good luck x
Is there a local college where a student would do it in return for using the photos in a portfolio? We're using a family member who recently won a prize at a photography competition.
Hi where are you located?
Hi, where are you based? I offer full day wedding packages from £450
Not sure where your located but we had Joe Bickerton paid £1000 for his full package which included everything you could ask for including a pre wedding shoot and he was worth every penny our photos are incredible and he was amazing!
why don't you do your own photo's? get everyone to take their own snaps throughout the day (beginning to end) and pre-wedding pics - even ones where you're not looking - then create your own album x
Hi, where are you located? Our photographer does packages from £625 and is amazing! Beautiful pictures, not intrusive. Such a relaxed atmosphere xxx
I was the same, my mum sourced a photographer who needed photos for her college portfolio. She had some amazing ideas and was there to capture the entire day. Deborah Walker
Just have a good search online for photographers in your area. I've seen prices vary but we have shortlisted a few which are under £400 and their work is amazing. You will find something, just keep looking
I used big day productions they have photographers across the country they were very reasonable and my photos turned out fantastic
Hi you need Hayley Crone she's doing my wedding in April she's a beaut! Very relaxed around her! she does have a photography page to look at too x
I got mind from gumtree, told him I just wanted natural shots mostly, him and his wife went to the venue before to see my husband setting up , then cane to photograph the get ready but then stayed at our venue till we cut the cake after 9pm, must of been with us over 12 hours and charged £350, I love our photos!
Personally I think you get what you pay for and it's worth investing in a good professional photographer. Our photographer stayed with us from 1:30pm until midnight. I told him at 10pm to clock off and just enjoy himself but he carried on taking photos of everyone dancing and enjoying themselves. He has since put his prices up but I feel he can do as he's won awards for his photography. He's such a lovely guy and does a fantastic job. Steve Grogan Photography
I Only paid £300 for my photographer from 12 midday till 10pm so had the getting ready shots as well as wedding itself and reception and all photos were put on a USB stick
Try Groupon you can get some great deals
We are just asking guests to snap photos of tge day and email us the picture! I don't want to pose for a stranger and think amongst friends and family we will be happier and more relaxed so the photos will offer better photos of the day
My top tip would be to meet with a few photographers, it is really important you feel comfortable with them, we met 3 and booked the one we clicked with most. I wouldn't worry too much about actually being photographed, a good photographer will be able to put you at ease so you shouldn't really notice them. Is there a college near you? If so you might be able to find a photography student that would do your pics cheaper than an established photographer.
We found a documentary-style photographer. You have your day and they stay in the background taking photos so there isn't a lot of posing and obvious focus on you. If you are based near notts pm me and i can send you his details
Melissa Maloo Photography is amazing! Documentary style photography so nothing is posed or uncomfortable and you barely notice after a while. She just became like another guest in the end and our pictures are amazing!
We've just booked a lovely photographer... lucievictoriaphotography... find her on fb if you want a peek... really friendly and not really over priced like many.x
My photographer was under £500 I found her on Facebook
Where do you live Debbie Goulding not sure if you live near x
My sister did ours, so much more relaxed with her than a stranger
I am the same i hate having my photo taken and am yet to see a photo of myself i like! We have decided to just have a photographer for the ceremony and the formal photos after so dont have to keep hidding from the photographer all day/evening plus everyone elce will be taking photos so will just be asking for copies of them after anyway.
We have just booked our photographer and she is very nice 🙂 she does a pre wedding photo shoot for free so she can get to know you and get to know what you like and don't like. I would highly recommend them. Also we are on a budget and believe that her price is very reasonable. It is called red curl photography xx
Where are you based? We found ours on facebook he is £450 x
I found a friend that just passed and maybe offer to give some of the rights to them for them to use as advertised you might be able to get cheap
Your quoted prices seem very high we have been 2 4 or 5 local wedding fayres and there r usually lots of photographers there all the ones we spoke to quoted about £1000. We found it best to talk to the photographers and found one that was lovely n we felt comfortable talking to. There going to be a key part of your wedding day so you need a photographer you can chat easily too. The one we like also does a pre- wedding photo shoot included in the price so you can test some photos out before the big day.
Where in the country are you if your in Leeds/ West Yorkshire try Dan Wilkinson photography. Prices start at around £250 (don’t quote me on that it’s an approximate figure) and his style is candid natural shots not posed pictures xx
I got ours £500 cheaper through meeting her at a fair. The package includes a pre wedding shoot to. She also works in the way that you don't really know she's there so get some really natural shots, this might be a better option for you if you are conscious of being in photos
CJBarrett Photographyis great and really reasonable. Cheaper than your lowest quote. He has some lovely pics on his website
I got my photographer for £500 and I got a book and the memory stick with all my amazing 600 photos on. Keep looking online you will find someone.
Ours is £500 & he's wonderful. search for Art Me Photography on facebook x
We are paying £650
I cannot recommend our photographer enough, she is also my sister in law but honestly she is amazing!!! We hate having our photos taken but she made us feel & look so natural & her photos make us feel so happy, she’s giving us some amazing memories! Please have a look at her site & I’ve added some of her pics (we only got married 2 weeks ago so we have plenty more to choose me) x
Where are you based/getting married? I've got one of my moms friends friends doing my photos now that she is properly set up and she is so much more reasonably priced!
If you're around Birmingham / Solihull look up Helen Eames photography
http://www.tinwheelerweddings.co.uk/ my sis in law used Tin last year. I was a bridesmaid and he made us all feel at ease. I've bookes him for my wedding next year. His photos are great and he does some great natural shots. His prices are very reasonable with a few package options as well. Hope this helpa.
Visit a photo evening course with mature students & ask their tutor who would handle a wedding day well & pick possibly 2 students , will get a cheap price & if 1 camera struggles hopefully the other will be great ...... I work as a model on an evening photo course & have been totally impressed by students work !
There is so many cheaper photographers out there I know one in the plymouth area and she has all different budgets to suit your needs. I would try and haggle with them. If you don’t feel comfortable with so many pictures taken then only ask for certain pics to be taken. But I really wouldn’t worry about that cause on the day you won’t care who’s taken photos cause your feel and look amazing and your groom will look lovely too you won’t stop smiling all day to the point it hurts but not falsely. Have you got wedding groups in the area your from? If so then put an add stating what your budget is and I’m sure some people will comment
Hi my mom hired a dj / photographer for the evening which cut her day bill right down! The Helen Andrews roadshow is in Facebook they’re great and take brill natural shots they display on a screen throughout the night and provide a disc too they weren’t too expensive either!
Try Scott Stockwell or Terry Comerford they are both excellent wedding photographers
Students! Or small company’s on Facebook! Shop around, I advertise my photography business on Facebook and nowhere else
What my auntie done was put cameras on the tables of each person and handed them out at the ceremony. They captured some beautiful images
I'm in Manchester and found one for 700 she's been doing it 11 years where are u based
To be honest I felt the same. We get married in 3 weeks and I was dreading spending a fortune on something I knew would make me feel self conscious and awkward. After a bit of shopping around however I found a reasonable photographer who's photos I love. We met up for a chat and a couple of practice photos and actually he made us both feel really relaxed with his happy quirky nature. I'd recommend speaking with photographers in person rather than telephone or internet searches cos if you find one with the right personality you will relax and the money won't matter as much
Put an appeal on Facebook selling and local sites that's what I did, I had loads of much cheaper photographers answer.
My advice and we did this speak to your local camera club there is such talent there and we had amazing photos taken by a member for a very reasonable price
Where are u located? We are paying 900 and they send to photographers
Hi where are you in the country? Im from the west Midlands, oir photographer cost £350 and that included arriving at the ceremony until after the first dance, she was really good and i love all of our photos, we had hundreds of photos on a disc and a lovely photo album with 40 prints in xxx
Where do you live hun? Xx
Take a look at Paul Cotterill The Wedding Photographer Fiftymm Photography
Me and my partner are the same with photographs.were not fond of being in them but we've been very lucky as I have a cousin that's a trained photographer.it will be a lot easier as we know the person takeing the photos.we have decided on a few formal shots to be done but then we decided to have to rest of the shots as informal photos.i personally love the shots where people don't realise the camera is there..it's so much more relaxed.even though we have our photographer we still had a look into prices of others and found really good deals at the wedding fairs.good luck x
Groupon have some offers o photographers x
I just got married this year in Hungary and had Arts Illustrated Studios as my photographer. They have several packages and are based in Hungary so the prices are way better. We have a wonderful wedding video too so if you don't like a lot of photo taking I would suggest you ask for a video, less directing there! My now husband didn't like the thought of the photography session but the guys were super professional and friendly, after 5 minutes we were completely comfortable. You can discuss your concern with them and they will work with you. I would be happy to send you some photos and our video to see what they did, PM me if interested. :)
Where abouts are you in the country love? X
We had Andrew Fletcher, he is a documentary photographer based in scunthorpe. We hardly knew he was taking our photos, as both my husband and I hate it, but couldn't have been more pleased with the end result. Whoever you choose, you possibly need to head towards a natural and documentary style. Good luck xx
My husband and I are fairly terrible at having our photo taken so we only had a few 'staged' photos and our amazing photographer just focused on natural candid pics of the day. Have you also thought about a videographer? That was the best last min decision we made x
Try phil I’ve booked him for my wedding he gets booked fast to but you can always see if he has your date and he travels xx
There are many professional photographers that will provide you with superb photos and albums for less than £1,000. Just make sure that you meet them in person, check their previous work, look for reviews (online is a good way of getting accurate reviews), and make sure that they are fully insured.
As someone else suggested, go to a few wedding fayres.
Using a novice/student is NOT a good idea, you really need an experienced photographer that knows how to produce what you want - you only get one chance, so make sure that you don't risk a disaster!
Professionals usually have top quality backup equipment, so equipment failure is unlikely.
Shaun Foulds is really good tried to tag company but won't let me it's called beautiful life video and photography
Where are you my photographer is £495 for bridal prep till first dance. He was also runner up at wedding confetti awards... Think he covers most of Scotland x
If you are near the North West then Rettie and Rowe do lovely wedding photography for under £1000 and they travel. They have done 3 of my friends weddings really well.
carla guest takes incredible pictures & is lower than the price you have mentioned, she takes mostly natural shots so no fake smiles etc, & they are truly stunning :) x
Glad I'm not the only one struggling with this we dont have that sort of money so I'm just trusting my dad with my own professional camera I bought ATM just means I can't get a full family 1 as I won't let anyone else near it any other ideas guys let me know lol xxx
We had an amazing photographer and we were lucky enough to have two of them on the day they brought a drone. My brief to was them just take pics of the kids of people having a good time dead natural. If you get chance have a look at our pics they are very natural x good luck
Tina wing photography
Arran james photography jane and jonny
Ryan Newton Photography
Completely recommend him, I was so nervous of having my photos taken and within 5minutes of him turning up, I felt so comfortable. Ryan was so friendly and happy that it immediately put me ease! Couldn’t recommend him enough xx
depending where you are i can personally recommend omaga photography they are amazing Sean Monks and his family really put u at ease.
Ask a friend (that's what we did) or like someone else said you could approach local college or uni for someone and offer to let them use pictures in their portfolio and offer to feed them for the day (what student could turn down free food lol) xxx
James Green Studio all. Day. Long.
Have u looked on Gumtree and also Groupon have some good deals for photographers. We also feel like this about photos and got a great deal off a photographer I met at a wedding fayre and I felt comfortable with him, think that is a huge thing. Also, if you are getting married on a week day, make sure you let them know and the hotels tend to be a lot cheaper.
Stephen McCluskey photography xx
u could always asks guest to take.picture for u and h2b so u wouldnt need to pay excecive amounts if u feel uncomfortable at least that way can.have a peek at wot ones u like hope that helps hun xx
I thoroughly recommend Matt Stansfield Photography (he's got a Facebook page) he came up to Wiltshire from Cornwall and I know he's done a wedding at Anfield so I'm sure he's happy to travel! Incredible work for us and he didn't cost the earth. He's very friendly and will act on your requests, he also has a real knack for unposed photos too.
Hi , i to am getting married april 2018 and what i have noticed alot is that when people hear the word wedding there prices immediately highten. Funnily enought when i attended an open day were we are holding our reception the photographers we chose were also there displaying there work. I took to them straight away. A husband and wife who were very relaxed. Weren't pushy at all. And catered to your needs and not so much packages. That and they were amazing photographers. We have booked them from 3:00pm til 11:30pm and have paid just under £400. We explained that we to were on a budget. What we want and what we didn't want. And they were very helpful. Look around. Gather quotes. Alot of people i know chose not to have photographers and let there guests take there own photographs so they could see it from there perspective. Hope you sort it soon xx
Hi my website is www.helensarah.com I have been doing this nine years and specialise in people who do not enjoy having their photo taken xx
Try this guy he's amazing and does a price plan for what you want. James Morgan
I was exactly the same when we were looking for our photographer. I hate having my photo taken and my other half always dislikes photos taken of him. We didn't want too many posed pictures and just wanted natural shots to really capture the day. We met with quite a few photographers, most of who made us feel uncomfortable or tried to tell us that we had to have certain shots done. That was until we met Tim Stephenson. He made us both feel at ease, was brilliant at dealing with my dislike of photos/ having photos taken. He was friendly, unassuming and put me at ease on the wedding day (I was a bag of nerves). I cannot recommend him highly enough.
We are getting the guests to take photos and then upload them to the wed pics app so we can pic ones we want to use from there......gonna have a couple of staged ones but them the rest will be natural and lovely (hopefully!!)
try big day productions there fab and work all over the UK prices around 370 pounds for 4 hours good luck x
Not sure where you are located, but Sharon Kaplan is the best photographer and may be able to help
Hi we used Tim Stephenson for our wedding almost two years ago. He's very relaxed, low key bit also professional... He's unobtrusive and captured loads of images for us that we were unaware he'd taken. We referred to him as the ninja photographer as he had a knack of reappearing and getting shots when least expected and we barely noticed him a lot of the time. Thoroughly recommended
Any photographer worth their salt should be able to get a couple to relax. Meet with some and ask how for specific examples of how they get couples to relax. If they can't answer then they probably lack experience. I use various methods from just talking to getting the couple to play a game that will produce the right result for the shot I want. Take a look at my page for plenty of examples Shooting Pixels. Any photographer you consider should be able to show you examples of genuine emotions.
Check photographers reviews on FB, a laid back photographer who knows what to do and how to mix well with your guests and have a laugh with you will help, tbh nobody likes having their photo taken that's where personality comes in. Plenty of photographers out there that will stress you out! Find someone you like as much as their photos. They should also be able to guide you through the day if they have experience. Don't go cheap like I did years ago :-( May 2018? Better hurry up! :-)
Hi, I'm a photographer just starting to develop my business so would be happy to have a chat with you and depending on where you are i can look at a way of getting the cost down. I totally understand how you feel about being in photo's, personally I loathe having my photo taken so I can relate. I've photographed at a couple of weddings where the bride/groom weren't happy at the idea of being photographed and both of them were really happy about the way I approached the photographs and the results they had from the day. If you want to have a chat just message me x https://www.facebook.com/CathyGphotography/
We can offer you a lower price than that, but we only have one weekend free now in May! 4th and 5th and Friday 11th. We are two Photographers working together and can offer you Package 1 for £650. You should not have to pay thousands for amazing photos! And we'll give you a 'training session' before the big day to learn to relax in front of the camera. Promise!
There are a few photographers in Cumbria that are only charging £300 ish but if you search then out and messaged/phone then they may be willing to travel for your day if you pay for expenses
My brother and sister in law did not have an official photograph instead just asked family and friends to take photos all day and can they share them with the bride and groom which made them feel more comfortable with having photos instead of being told what poses to make for the camera
Try Vigor Justin Photography, he's really lovely and does excellent work and I think his all day packages start at £895 xx
Darren Powell, did my photography - from the previews we've seen he did a phenomenal job and has great prices!
Thanks Ashley Phillips
If you could pass on my details I would love to help
Cheaper than the above prices to
https://davidchristopher-photography.co.uk/ Im a uk bride member and has special offer only to uk bride customers. I have real reviews and you can see im a real person on my facebook and page. I'm 31 and have a young fresh look on wedding photography, no cheesy no old school
Hello, I'm a wedding photographer. www.joshuawybornphotogrpahic.com is me. Don't worry I'm not here to sell myself although if you like my work and want to book then amazing! however, I offer monthly payments for my clients. maybe ask photographers if they offer this? I also offer credit card payments too as some clients find that easier?
Feel free to get in touch if you wish but also see if the ones you've looked at would offer this? All of my clients love the monthly payment option. After being a groom myself last year I found how crazy this world is and so I re did my entire business to be client lead not industry lead! :)
Hope you get sorted! :)
Unsure of fees but Nick Murray is amazing!! Check out his pictures x
Don't skimp too much on the photographer, we did and unfortunately we'll regret it for the rest of our lives.
Have a chat with Dan Waters; very well priced and great photos - plus has a way of making you feel at ease about the camera / photos. My fiancé felt the same about photos :)
Hi. In a previous thread I too raised my concerns over the cost of photography. I simply don't buy the hourly rate charge. If you genuinely feel you won't be happy in any photo by any photographer then why pay that kind of money? I marry in June 2018 and booked my photographer 2 weeks ago. She is Peterborough based and charges around £400. Thats for all day too x
Hi get friends to take pictures on their own phones, you'll be much more comfortable and some smartphones take great pictures. You can get them printed on free prints which is in the app stores plus many more apps. The quality of the prints is very good and you only pay postage.
