I have a really specific idea in mind for my dress and due to that I ideally want to get in made instead of buying one. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm going to go to a dress shop regardless so I can try on dresses of that style to see if they will suit me but has anyone else done this?

I went to see a designer in Bournemouth and it was definitely worth it, I have my dream dress. She has dresses you can choose from but she will make one for you from your specifications, here is her website - she was really reasonable too - and she treated me like a VIP http://www.mojganweddingdresses.com

I had a specific style in mind, went to a local shop just to see and bought “ the one” that was the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted

I done this I knew I wouldn’t find what I wanted in the shops I only went just to say I had been dress shopping. I had in my head what I wanted and got exactly that from my dress maker. Xxx

I went dress shopping for the experience. And then made my own dress, so go exactly what I wanted.

I had something in mind and then ended up getting the complete opposite. Definitely go to a store and try different styles on, hopefully they'll have something similar to what you have in mind xx

I'm having mine made by a work colleague but any good dressmaker will be able to make the dress of your dreams.

I'm planning on having my dress made. But still going to try dresses on to make sure the style I choose suits me.

Yes! If you are based in London, Acacia Bridals are great and very reasonably priced! x

I am getting my dress made.
I'm still not sure what I want as I'm attracted to a few different styles.
I still went dress shopping for the experience and tried on lots of different styles to see what I like. But I didn't find "the one".
So today was my first consultation with my dress maker. And she has put all my worries to bed.
It is a collaborative organic process in which we decide and design as we go to ensure I get the perfect dress.
At the moment I have no idea what dress I will decide on until the fittings nearer the day. And that is really exciting for me!
And to top it off, I have told her my budget and she will design it to that budget so I cannot go over, unless I personally request more expensive fabrics.
I am so excited.
Good luck

I tried on a few dresses to get an idea of what I liked, and then designed my own and had it made by Jeca Bridal for about 1/3 of the cost. Was a bit nervous about ordering a custom design online but it fit perfectly and was exactly what I wanted
