Hi for the male passport for the female passport, driving license and Mother's birth certificate :)

It will all be listed on the registrars website. In addition to what Lucy has already said you will need to provide information of any previous names due to change by deed poll and if previously married you will need to prove divorce or provide death certificate of spouse if a widow.

All we needed was a passport or driving license. Xx

Passport/driving license, proof of change of name if previous marriage/deed poll, proof of divorce if previous marriage and proof of address for both

It gives you a list of ids required when you booked but our passports were sufficient enough x

For us it was our own birth certificates. We married just as a change of rules was brought in and we were asked at the meeting for our mother's birth certificates, but we hadn't been told to bring them (i'm not in contact with mine either). She did offer to look them up on the system (Scottish) but that wouldn't work as husband's mum is Welsh!

in the end they waived it because we hadn't been told but was a bit hairy for a few minutes.

I had to take passports and a bill (bank statement or council tax letter) with my name and address on it and the same for my partner 😊

We both took passports and council tax letter as it had proof of address for both of us

I think it depends on where you live as each authority is different, in Kent they need photo ID for both to prove who you are, something with an address to prove that you live within the area you are registering (you need to register marriage where you live) and if you have changed name or divorced, you need change of name deed, decree nici. If you check online for your authority, everything should be listed on there

Passport and proof of address. It should tell you on your local council website what you need

this ones touchy for me.

We thought we needed just birth certificates for the both of us, standard utility bills/bank statements and I would need mums birth certificate too as born after 1983. We went to give notice but it appeared oh needed passport (Irish passport) too he didn't have it and no way of getting it in time for notice deadline, we have jumped hurdles to sort it out and have managed to give our notice (the hard way) finally get married in 2 weeks! My advice is to check with the registrar, don't leave it til the last minute either xx

Photo I’d (passport or driving license) and proof of address such as utility bill, tenancy agreement, bank statement. But I think it varies from one local authority to another

I had to take my passport and an official document (i.e utility bill) to confirm my address. That was it. My partner hadn't changed his address from his mum and dads as they live round the corner, and it turned out his mum and dads address meant needing to go to a different registry office! Thankfully I had brought a joint savings account bank statement with me with both our names and current address on which they accepted! So just make sure if you have different addresses that you are both going to the right registry office x
