Hi. Congratulations.

Of course you can. Check how much it is to marry at either your local church or registry office, depending how you wish to get married and then build from there.

You could buy your dress on the high street which will lower cost’s. Also look at your local community hall to hold your reception or if you have a large garden have a party back home. Research research research. It can be done as long as are willing to put work in yourself and compromise on some things. Good luck. X

There is a great website called Bidvine, I have found a photographer for the full day for £400 and an engagement shoot.

You definitely can. There are so many ways you just need to have a idea of what you'd like to do as there are options available. What's the budget? My friend did hers under £1K which included sit down meal for 25 guests, registery office ceremony, dress, flowers, centrepieces all bought online. It looked lovely too. Just do some research and ring around to see what they can offer.

Of course 😊 I'm doing mine cheaply, registry office and rugby club afterwards and I'm doing it all up beautifully, it doesn't matter how much you spend as long as you're happy 😊 x

Of course you can. Sit and decide on theme, venue, guest list etc and see where you can cut. We are having our ceremony and evening reception at our local town hall on a package deal and we shopped around for photographers, dress, suits etc and our wedding is going to cost roughly £3,200 xxx

We had an afternoon registry office ceremony and then a buffet reception at local hotel. Call in favours and use friends talents. It is definitely possible.

I have tried and I have failed there were too many things I wanted once I'd seen them and for the type of centre pieces I wanted it was cheaper to have them as part of a package than DIY, budget was about 9k, it's nearly doubled now and still haven't finished

Only if you can get stuff for free, which is really just spreading the cost...

UKbride Administrator 12 Oct 2017

You can but it involves alot of work on your part. Making invitations and decorations yourself etc. Just make sure you cab dedicate the time to doing it yourself. Otherwise eloping can be very cheap

Call in favours from friends & family, get married mid week, make invitations, favours etc, check freebie sites for others giving away room decor, eBay/Amazon are good too.

Yes I did my first wedding for under £1500 was a registry office went back to a pub for the after which was free got a basic cake which was £50. Didn't wear a wedding dress I had a bridesmaid dress so that cut costs my parents paid for my flowers and we did a sit down meal for close family then put a buffet on for the evening. This time round I'm on about £12,000 haha. Good luck and hope you have a wonderful day xx

Yes we had a register office ceremony. Hot & cold buffet & a disco at a local hotel. Whole thing cost less than £5000

I saved a fortune doing the venue decorating myself even had fresh flowers, cake was from M&S (half the price of a cake maker), invites done on vista print. Spend the money where it matters to you, when your wedding is over all you have left is photographs and wedding rings. This is what we splurged out on.

Yes you can, there are lots of ways these days to keep costs down, such as having a weekday/winter wedding, making your own invites and having fewer guests!

My hubby and I got married yesterday. Haven't added up all the costs yet but I think it was around £2000 - 2500. We got married at our local town hall in the ceremony suite, booked a local bar for reception and got a local caterer. Bought a lot of stuff on ebay including my dress, bridesmaid dress, balloons, bunting etc. I was quite lucky as I have a friend who did photography at uni so got a discount there, a family friend that did music as a present to us, and a friend's sister that did my make up for a very reasonable rate! xx

I'd deffinatly say the number of guests has a huge impact. We've done quite a cheap wedding but due to the number of guests it's actually turned out quite expensive

Yes. Use a social club or village hall rather an expensive hotel to have your reception, use wedding section of high street stores for wedding outfits rather than expensive bridal shop or expensive suit shop, maybe use a charity to buy wedding invites, place names etc rather than expensive stationery outlets or card shops also do invites, maybe ask friends to help you use their skills firvthe wedding in lu of presents

Get married in early December. Winter prices, and the venue is likely to be decorated for Christmas!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 14 Oct 2017

Yes, there's registry offices for £50, eBay for clothes, online invites, local selling pages for decorations, friends and family for cake and favours or supermarkets, buffet food...

Laura Wilkinson

Yes you definitely can do it cheaply. My main expense was the venue but I shopped around and found a beautiful park with a quirky museum! You needed external catering which really brought down the cost massively! Making own invitations and centrepieces cuts costs. We are lucky that friends do photography, makeup, hair, flowers and cakes so can get mates rates-it's definitely worth asking around x
