Hi was wondering if your members could help! I'm going wedding dress shopping and was wondering what is the right thing to do? Do you take your own drinks and glasses? Or is that just something that happens in films? Was just wanting to make it a special day. What did other members do on the day they went dress shopping to make it extra special? Going for food after etc? Sorry for all the questions ???? really excited ???? thank you
Hi don't take drink and glasses that is not allowed. Go for a meal later :)
Some bridal shops offer you Prosecco while you are there some dont but you wont be allowed to take your own. Enjoy x
I wouldn't take any drinks with you. I think that's something that's just on films and TV. Go for a nice meal after
We were given glasses of fizz when I said yes to the dress. I don't think a bridal boutique would let you take your own drink and glasses in.
Glass of fizz before and after?! Enjoy!!
You may or may not be offered something to drink. Wouldn't take your own though. Go out after if you must
I have been bridesmaid 5 times and have picked my wedding dress and never been offered prosecco at a bridal shop 😓 id arrange lunch and fizz after to make your dress experience extra special cx
I've been told they provide tea and coffee and glasses if we want to take a bottle of bubbly
In taking my anterage for a meal and drinks after to celebrate. Exciting time really enjoy your self xc
It's a special day anyway IMO. We didn't get offered drinks in the shop but I floated out after finding it, and we went for cocktails after
We just had a brew when I went for mine lol
I found that most places will only offer you drinks etc if they think you’re going to buy, the only place we were given bubbly was when I bought my dress
My friend owns a wedding dress shop. She.offers a glass of bubbly.
Dont take your own to a shop.they wouldn't like it.
The bridal shop Ive purchased my dress from gave us prosecco and little biscuits whilst we were looking and trying dresses on. Other shops we went to did offer water/tea or coffee and some didn't each shop is different. X
I've ordered my dresses from Lindy Bop and we're going to have to a trying on session with bubbly, then a sophisticated evening meal with just me, my sister and my oldest school friend and her mum.
I got offered a coffee!
We took our own, they provided us with one glass of prossecco then allowed us to drink our own xx
I just went with my mum into a bridal and just trying on different dresses was special enough and when I found the one i went back with my mum and grandma this time and showed her as she was buying it for me, my grandma got so happy and emotional she bought my dress, veil and garter haha.... it wasn't a cheap dress I tried on either ... but the appointment which was only an hour was still special
Depends where you go dress shopping. We had fizz with some but not all! My advice is choose wisely xx
I think it’s more of a TV thing as I haven’t been offered any bubbly in any of the many shops I went to, but then I didn’t ask for it... I would have felt awkward to ask for something they might not offer, but I would have loved a glass of bubbly if they’d had offered it to me and the girls who came with me, especially when I finally decided for a dress. I actually was slightly disappointed it didn’t happen. If you feel awkward asking yourself you could get your mum or bridesmaid or whoever is coming with you to ring the shop and ask what the options are. In case nothing is offered by the shop your ladies could ask if they can bring their own bubbly as a “surprise” for the bride to make the day even more special for you. I think that would be hard to say no to :) Have a lovely time trying on dresses ️
We went to wed2b, no prosecco ordered but we were done within 2 hours and planned to make a day of it all.
We got the train to Milton Keynes, dress shopped, went for lunch and cocktails and more drinks 😂 great day with the girls and my mum and MIL
I never got anything when I got my dress but then again my bridal shop went into liquidation 11 months after I got married xx I got champagne when we got our wedding rings and eternity ring xx
I have had a cup of tea at one place, nothing at others, fizz once but that was a bridal showcase with a catwalk show where everyone got a little goody bag and some fizz not a normal appointment X
I got a glass of processco when I got my dress xx
Most shops don't allow drinks incase it gets spilt on the dresses. They may offer you one if you buy a dress but it depends on the shop.
We didn't have prosecco at wed2b but it was really exciting anyway! It only took an hour and half so there was plenty of time for food and fizz afterwards xx
ring ahead and ask if they provide drinks and if not can you take your own.. wont hurt to ask x
Not sure where you are based but The Wedding Room Peterborough offer an Afternoon Tea for a small charge and make the whole experience really special :)
We went for lunch after I bought mine :-)
It's definitely not like what you see on TV. There is a shop local to me (Peterborough) that offers an 'afternoon tea' dress shopping experience, but I haven't heard of others doing the same. I would suggest calling in advance and asking if they offered anything like that and if not whether you could take your own (unlikely). I personally found dress shopping really stressful and not the most glamorous of experiences but I guess it's not for everyone! Good luck :)
We unexpectedly found my dress at the national wedding show was a lovely day out wit my spesh girls an we jus went 4 a meal after n had a drink etc xx
I went to 4 shops and only 1 offered bubbly, which was an independent local lady, she was brilliant and although I didn't get my dress that day she made it special, we went for a meal after. The second time I went we made a day out of it as it was far away, and had lunch and the final time I went and actually bought a dress it was just my mum and one bridesmaid I was given a little goody bag after xx
I had a glass of champagne at mine. Boutique provided it.
We were given glasses of fizz or tea/coffee etc in both shops I visited. Also a glass to toast after i said yes to the dress! Suppose it depends on the shop you go to!
Nope! Research the shops you are going to (don't forget to book!) some do provide drinks to make it cute and special, but these are usually the expensive places. If you turn up at a place that doesn't provide drink they won't allow you to bring food or drink in on account of the risk to the dresses.
Quite a few shops offer a drink...some just coffee and others prosecco. Some offer fizz when you agree to the dress. When you make the appointments ask if they offer drinks and if not visit a bar in between appointments. You have to make appointments or most won't let you. It's so they can offer their full attention and fuss around you. Have fun xx
