Like Lucy, I don't understand why people are making such a big deal of asking someone to be a bridesmaid. Why not just ask? It all seems like an unnecessary expense. If anything I would have thought going out for a meal or coffee and asking them then.

Now that the venue is booked (I'm a 2019 bride too) I'll be doing mine in the next week or so. X

No. I asked my bridesmaids as soon as I got engaged but they pretty much already knew anyway.
