I have done a lot of DIY for our wedding and was looking to make some...

I have done a lot of DIY for our wedding and was looking to make some glitter covered candle holders (like the ones pictured) to go on the tables, I’m just wondering if anyone knows what is best to stick the glitter onto the glass with so that it doesn’t fall off too much? Thanks!

I'd try an adhesive spray glue to prevent any lumps forming.

I initially tried spray adhesive. Oh my word, I cannot print what I thought, and said, over this experiment, suffice to say it would have had a lot of bleeping if it had been on tv. Mod podge, sprinkle on glitter leave to dry for 24 hours mod podge on top to seal and leave to dry another 24 hours. I used mod podge gloss for the glitter and ended up doing two layers of glitter and then sealed with mod podge sparkle as I was running out of gloss. I initially enjoyed it and found it therapeutic, however by the end I had had enough. Good luck x

I do this sort of stuff for a living. I use mod podge and make sure you get ultra fine glitter. Mod podge then glitter and leave to dry for about an hour. Repeat until all is covered nicely then seal with a couple coats of mod podge and leave to dry in between coats

We did little champagne bottles for favours and decorated them with gold glitter like this. I just got a spray on adhesive from Wilko's and then ultra fine glitter from amazon! We tied gold ribbon round as well xxx

I used general craft glue, applied it with a sponge then used a teaspoon to pour the fine glitter over a bowl...I tried a spray adhesive to set but it was naff! I ended up using clear Wilkinsons varnish to set and barely any, if any comes off :) xx

I used Modge pudge but you have to apply it really evens or when you put the candle in you will see the streaks! Just one coat or it doesn't shine properly. I only put lights in some of mine but used battery powered 20 string led ones- it looked amazing!

Then spray it with a clear lacquer. There are fire retardant ones online.

I used to make glitter glasses
Use mod podge for the glitter let it dry fully then get a dry unused paint brush and brush over the glitter to get the excess off I suggest two layers of glitter and glue so just glue straight over the first layer I also used to put a layer of glue over the 2nd layer as it dry clear to prevent alot of the glitter coming off on your hands

Cheap PVA works fine to put the glitter onto but seal it with Mod Podge after its dried

I did this for my wedding and use mod podge - paint the surface with mod podge, then roll into glitter (I used a paper plate), add another layer of mod podge but dab it on as opposed to painting. Once your happier with the coverage (i.e. You might want to add another layer or two), use a mod lodge sealer which stops any residue glitter. Xx

Carol, I've been saving glass jars for you. I love this glitter idea. What do you think? X

Mod podge I used the out door one then sprayed over with clear acrylic because I found mod podge to seal dulled the sparkle ever so slightly.ultra fine nail glitter.i also did shoes and all sorts for mine.

Modge podge is the best. You can start of doing small patches at a time and even better you can layer the glitter up to make sure you get a proper cover all round. If it sheds to badly you can even coat it with the stuff when you have finished to seal the glitter. xXx

Hairspray is surprisingly good at stopping glitter shedding once it's been glued down but I haven't tried it on glass x

I make glitter glasses vases candle holders, basically anything that is glass I put glitter on mod podge is what I always use, along with 2 coats of glitter then a final layer of mod podge to seal, don't worry about the blue tinge you will get on the final coat of it, it will 100% dry clear. I leave about 6 hours between doing the glitter coats and then leave for 12 for the sealing layer to dry properly. Have fun making them it's quite addictive hahaha c
