Hi any time of the year :)

I love a summer wedding but you can never guarantee the weather no matter what time of year. I've also seen some stunning examples of winter weddings. Do it at a time that's best for you and your partner.

My venue made me want a winter wedding. Find your venue & then choose we’re getting married in Feb 2019 x

I think autumn is too cold and so is winter. What we call spring is normally when it starts to get warm and the beginning of summer. I orginally wanted a new years eve wedding but wasnt ideal for family and I got a great offer for next June due to my venue still having dates spare. March was lovely and warm this year but you can never bet on the weather in England haha. I am hoping for sun on my wedding day so I can have an outside ceremony. Do what you think is best for you and your partner

I had mine just after xmas (28th).... several reasons.
I didn’t want a summer wedding with the uncertainty of the weather.... at least in winter you know it’s going to be cold!
My eldest was off school
A lot of family work in industries where there is a 2 week shut down
Mid week wedding was so much cheaper!

I got married end of May bank holiday this year and was 26'c. My birthdays August and usually rains. It could go either way any day but I didn't mind if it rained as long as it wasn't bitter cold so chose a warmer month

Have it whenever you want, obviously if you want a summer wedding then do June/July/August, or winter Nov/Dec/Jan etc etc.. you kinda have to decide for yourself what season you want to do it in xx

We're getting married on Friday 13th October this year! Friday 13th has always been lucky for us & so it was a no brainer!

We chose an autumn wedding for the changing of the colours in our photographs! We don't mind wet & cold really (we'll be doing an outdoor shoot no matter the weather! I have my Doc Martens at the ready!)

Choose your favourite time of year and go with that! People will book the day off - everything falls into place! Choose the season you love!

It's down to personal choice really, but here's what I think of when I picture weddings during each season:
Spring: Pretty, nice light airy; Spring flowers look cute. Conjures images of floaty dresses, buttercups, daffodils, daisies, dew drops, pastel colours; light meals; bridal wellies and clear brollies in case it rains.
Summer: Potentially warmer weather, beach weddings, strapless or floaty dresses, warmer evenings so potential for outdoor entertainment, bbq's; summer flowers such as sunflowers etc. Bright, bold colours.
Autumn: Nights draw in, although still potential for warmer days; Rustic themes work well; Heavier materials in dresses. Knitted shrugs to keep bride/ bridesmaids warm. Deep reds, browns, oranges; pumpkins, pine cones, roses; Bonfire night. Marshmallows toasting. Comfort food.
Winter: Snow, Christmas, frosty. Cold themes- snowflakes, lots of silver glitter. Mulled wine in place of champagne; rich meals or banquets. Berries, peony roses; faux fur capes, bridal boots; Throws and blankets for a cosy feel.
:) Might not make sense, but I hope it helps you decide what you want!

Budget depending for most places, winter months is cheaper, certain week days cheaper, weekends in summer you need to remortgage for some places. Weekday in winter they’re practically giving the venue away, at least in winter you know it’s going to be cold and probably wet so you and your guests can dress prepared. 😁

We are having a winter wedding, we had originally planned for a summer wedding but due to a tight budget, we saved around £3000 by going for winter to get our dream venue, it'll also look stunning in winter as it looks onto Ben Lomond so the mountains will be covered in snow as well it really depends on what is important to you x good luck!

I didn't think of the time of year I wanted a date that was already special. We decided to go for our 10 year anniversary and it happened to fall on a Saturday in November we managed to get the date we now have 63 days to go ️ plus we saved money unintentionally getting married during the winter

It depends if you have thought about your colour scheme/theme yet, also depends on your budget like others have said. We thought of our theme before we booked our venue, we planned to get married next year but our venue was doing such an amazing deal this year that we couldn't refuse it, with a shorter planning time we went for late september which fell in perfectly with our theme as it is now the beginning of Autumn

We get married Aug 22nd 2020.
It will be our 15year anniversary on Dec 26th 2020 so we dent want to choose that date as Christmas is for kids not weddings lol. We dent realise till after we booked the date and a family member pointed it out to us we had our daughters naming day Aug 22nd 2015 lol .
Every season has its pros and cons, every wedding should be personal to the couple, every moment during the run up to the big day should be stressful should be happy should be life changing should be about you x

I've gone for a November wedding as people have said whenever you book you can't trust the typical British weather 😉 it's all down to personal choice really (I also chose November as I don't want to be too hot on the day)

Mhairi McKie

We're having a Spring wedding but think it could be cheaper having a winter wedding.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Sep 2017

I opted for June as I was having a tea length dress, not too hot, not too cold if you know what dress/bridesmaid dresses you want then try and work out what's going to be best, is summer going to be too hot, winter too cold, etc no one's happy if they're getting frost bite, and no one wants to be sticky on their wedding day!

Of course if your venue is all indoor you don't need to worry about the weather so much maybe think about any dates that are special to you and your partner x

We wanted an autumn wedding, getting married late afternoon for a twighlight/hazy light with candles. Also great colours for photos, and my dress bodice is red and gold. Welcome drinks will be mulled wine or hot choc with pimping choices, nice 3 course meal with a real fire in the room. Party the next night in the village hall, so the older generation don't feel they need to attend or hang about "to show face". 39 days to go and I'm so excited!!

Our daughter gets married 29th December this year. They got engaged Christmas Day 2 years ago (3 by the time of the wedding ) . She wanted a winter wedding as close as possible to the day they got engaged. Less than 90 days to go.
