Can I ask what everyone is doing with their family pets? We have a dog and although I'd love him to be at the wedding our venue does not allow pets, so we have the dilemma of what to do with him on the day/night of because literally everyone we know or would trust will be at the wedding. He's never been to kennels and I don't think I'd feel comfortable putting him in one as he's a creature of habbit. Thanks!

Would he be okay if someone went in to check on him in the evening then left and no one was there again till morning? Some dogs would be, otherwise maybe could you ask a neighbour? Xx

Dog sitters can come to your house and sit there. We put our dog in a ladies home who does boarding in her home. He loves it

Although our venue does welcome pets we've thought it best to put our dog with a dog sitter ... a lovely fully licensed person who takes care of them in her home, no kennels or cages and lots of walks ... google dog sitters in your area and check reviews x

Somebody's going to go back and check on mine after the sit down meal before the evening do starts and then they'll be okay for a couple of hrs until my mam goes back, as she'll be watching our daughter and dogs while we stay in the hotel for a night x

I'd say get a pet sitter. There are some fab people who will look after your dog in the comfort of its own home.

My friend put her dog with a dog sitter. She then asked the dog sitter to bring him for a short while so they could get photos with him xxx

At my cousins wedding last year, one of my aunties also has dogs and their dog stayed at hers and she went back after the meal to feed and let them out quickly and then came back for the evening and went back at the end so their dog was taken care of without having to worry but if you don't have that option then a licensed dog sitter might be good, someone who can stay at your place so your dog is in familiar surroundings :)

We have a rescue who got stressed in the kennels in the few days she was there so we wouldn't want to stress her out, we aren't allowed to take her to the church but we can at the venue so she is coming with a colour co-ordinated collar/bow.

Our dog is coming to be the ring bearer then some photos, then we're having him picked up before the wedding breakfast. We're using a company called Barking Mad who are going to have him for a few days after the wedding too, they look after dogs in their own home. Xx

Mine went to his dog walkers house for the day/night- he loved it! If you don't have one maybe check out local options, quite a few people offer dog sitting at their house or yours rather than kennels. Maybe could do a couple of nights trial runs before x

Aw that's a shame. If your venue is local maybe a family member or friend can sneak back a few times? I'll be doing that on my wedding day as we have a cat who we would keep in for the whole day. X

I don't know where you are, but in my area of Reading, I take my dog to a guy that I like to call the Dog Whisperer! He is amazing with all types of dogs which he keeps on his own land. My dog is a moody so & so who doesn't do change & she's old! He was brilliant with her
I met him when my local kennels shut down unexpectedly and I was going on holiday. He has very reasonable rates. He will take a dog for a day or longer if required. We left my mums puppy with him recently!
Pm me if you require more information ; if not good luck with your wedding & your search

There are some great home boarding places these days where the dogs stay in their own house. Depending on how far away your wedding is could you try out a few so your pup knows them and feels comfortable with them? And so you feel comfortable too? You want peace of mind on the day that your pup is content and safe. x

Get an at home dog visitor. We did that for our cat on the day, they don't have to leave their comfort and it's cheaper then a kennels.

They come round and speak to you about what service you want for your dog and frankly tend to be animal lovers.

If you are in the Surrey area I can recommend Karen's Pet Care and Animals at Home xx

Same our dogs will be going to a kennel although this can seem scary at first I'm sure you can find a local one your happy with. Any good kennel will let you come in and view them to make sure everything is above board and they are taken care of altho not recommended the day your dropping them off. We need to leave ours there for 2 weeks .

We are putting ours into kennels, the one I spoke to has a really good reputation and it came recommended, they have advised to put him in for a few day 'trial' runs in the run up to the wedding so he knows we will be coming back (he's from dogs trust) and he gets to know the place and staff might be something to consider, or what about a dog sitting service some dog walkers do it and have the dogs in their home so it should be less stressful. I wish we could do that there's none available at our wedding date, so kennels it is.

Hello, I've had the same issue. My dog is going to be there for the ceremony however the venue won't let her stay in the accommodation. I've had issues finding someone to look after my dog as she is dog reactive. Professional companies wouldn't look after my dog (however if they will for your dog, this is what I would recommend!)
My dog is a specific breed so I reached out to my breed's community on Facebook and a breed specific rescue, I have been overwhelmed with the support. Of course you need to be careful as you don't want any random stranger, I managed to find someone who a rescue has recommended local to me who is picking her up after the ceremony and staying at our house after until the following morning.

Our dog is going to home boarding. So he is basically in a lady's house. He loves it as she has a huge farm house. Some companies will pet sit in ur home over night.

If he can't come at everyone is at the wedding, you can either get a dog sitter or will have to put him in kennels

I know someone from a local dog meet-up group who boards. She's going to bring our dogs for outdoor pictures then keep them overnight - outside of my parents, she is the only person I would trust with them! X

If you choose a home boarder, double check that they have the appropriate insurance and are licensed with the local council. If they're not licensed and something happens their insurance will be invalid. Also ask for references & testimonials. Our dog boarder is AMAZING, I trust her totally but I did have to do a lot of research to find someone we were happy with.

My dog is coming to my ceremony & meal but then one of my friends is going to take her home before the loud music starts & she's having my dog overnight. I spoke to her about it before I sent my invites out & she said she'd love to help me out. When we do our speeches we will give her a special gift to say thank you.
Good luck, I hope you find someone to help you out.
