So... a few weeks back I went to the boutique wedding shop that I said I wanted to buy my wedding dress from... the first dress I tried on was "the dress" but it had a very big price tag... I have just found "the dress" on a online website for the faction of the price do I trust it and go for it?

Don't get from another site, they copy the designers pics, get shoddily made in China and you'll get a dress sent in a tiny package that looks like a dish rag when you take it out. Less money unfortunately means less quality. I learnt the hard way

If it's a reliable site and the same brand and name then yes!

I would be very careful and check whether you are ordering a genuine designer dress. If it's a fraction of the price, chances are you would be ordering a cheap knock off from China. Some people have ordered dresses from China and had great experiences, but there are also a lot of people out there who have had awful experiences. How devastated would you be if you ordered it and it turned out to be a terrible unwearable copy? Why not try talking to the boutique to see if they can offer a discount, or phone round other bridal shops that stock the designer and see if you can find the dress in a sale, or even a sample that you can buy for a reduced price. With wedding dresses you really do get what you pay for, and ordering cheap could cost you more in the long run if you end up having to buy a new dress last minute or have extensive alterations done to make it wearable, not to mention the stress and upset that you really don't need in the run up to your big day x

I personally wouldn't risk it. Talk to the boutique, will it go in the sale at any point. Also do they have it at wed2b? X

have a look at reviews on trustpilot, it might not be a verified shop, just be really careful x

I had exactly the same. What if you order it online and it needs changing. How much different is it in £. I personally didn't question the shop xxx

I often buy from online retailers including China. Check the reviews and the returns policy. Sometimes you get a good idea about them if you ask a question.

Which online website ?

I really wish people would stop all the negative comments about Chinese made Dresses. Don't get me wrong please be careful about what you are doing. Make sure you have triple checked the measurements and sizes. Don't worry about ordering a size 12 even if you are normally a size 6 if that is what the measurements say you need. Also be careful about what online sites you order from. I got mine from China and I ordered it from an Amazon seller. I know for a fact that it is impossible to get a brand new Lace Wedding Dress from any shop in this country made with the quality that mine is for less than half what I payed for mine.

Be careful.. there are a large group of Chinese websites that make out to be British but then all the reviews on their website's are exactly the same.. I know HerDress is one of them..dug a little deeper and found loads of horror stories 😂 x

I found one in a shop for just under £1000. I could have it custom made for £120 silly how much wedding dresses are. I say go for it x

If you've found the dress you love why don't you see if anyone is selling the same one secondhand? That's what I did, ended up getting a £3000 dress for £600 then you can just take it to a seamstress if it needs alterations x

Check with the dress boutique, the price may be higher but does it include all the alterations? These can come at a high price for a professional finish and you could end up spending the same or more on a less than perfect service. Xx

They might be fab! Check reviews etc carefully and phone round other places too. I found "the dress" but went to other bridal stores and managed to get the same one for nearly £600 cheaper and that was just the discount they managed to give me on the day! Xx

Has anyone used mix bridel for bridesmaid dresses? Xx

Search ebay and selling sites for the same dress. Even if it's a couple of sizes bigger you could have it altered and save a fortune x

I wouldn't trust it unless it is the website from another boutique that you can go and visit. A lot of online websites steal photos from designers so have no evidence of their actual work. They also tend to use cheaper materials hence the cheaper cost. Look for reviews online to see if you can find any.

Try JJS house to see if it is there, i can vouch for the quality as i got my dress from there at a fraction of the price i would pay in a boutique and the dress was gorgeous and amazing quality. I also got my bridesmaid dresses from a Chinese seller on ebay and they were amazing too, so they are not all bad.

Love it all of you saying to stay clear of China made dresses I went into a bridal shop 3 weeks ago to look for my dress every one I tried on had a little tag inside barely noticeable that said "made in China" and they wanted 1500 for a Mori lee dress that I feel in love with! I have found the dress with a seller on eBay who has 100% positive feedback!

UKbride Administrator 5 Sep 2017

Yes I bought my dress off eBay for £60 and the dress shop wanted £1,199 and it was amazing and only cost me £60 to get it altered good luck xx

Hi everyone this was my post so thank you for your comments it's from a online shop in America... iv seen some reviews and they have all be good I'm going to do a bit more research... unfortunately the dress is not on eBay 😧

Do not buy your dress online! Here's s reason it's s lot cheaper - it'll be a cheap knock off using totally different material, probably from China. It's just not worth the risk!

Ashley Mann

Yes!! Just make sure its the exact same dress :)

Not sure I'd risk it. I've seen a couple of online dresses and the quality isn't half as good :/

I'd advise getting a bigger size then having it tailored here - if it's a lot cheaper to order online then you can spend a bit more to get it properly fitted.
