We are getting married May 2018, I'm going for a romantic feel, with love hearts as part of the decor and red as the colour. The venue is an old pub, we are doing more modern table centre pieces to contrast the location. Where I'm struggling is table names? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Go with something personal that relates to both of you.

Or if it's an old pub, maybe go for names of wood - like oak, mahogany, pine, beech, ash, pine, maple, cherry, walnut, birch, spruce, cedar or larch.

Bit random but just an idea :-)

I've never heard of table names? X

1) Have 12 tables? Try different months of the year — with the top table being the month of the wedding.

2) Destinations that you wish to travel together in the future – perhaps it could be honeymoon inspiration

3) The top locations where you spent your favourite dates.

4) The ingredients that make a marriage perfect; trust, passion, friendship etc.

5) Specific dates — with the reason of the specific date explained on the table.

That's a few from Google :-)

We recently went to a wedding where all the table names were classic love songs. It was a nice idea and fitted in well with the romantic theme of the day x

Depending on the amount of tables why not have love in different languages

What about the word romantic in different languages or love etc

My friend recently had 'I love you' in different languages which was nice, it also got people talking on how to actually say it on some tables

What about favourite couples from films or books?

Also you could do random numbers that means something to you e.g. 29 the day of your first date, 11 your first house number etc.

Favourite flowers is also another...

On the other hand a favourite series...we did bond film names (husbands favourite film set) xxx

We have 6 tables and 6 dogs so we're naming each table after our pooches 😍

We had a theme very closed linked to making a little bit of fun of ourselves- arancini, risotto, paella, uncle bens etc as they are all in relation to rice which is our Surname! So it just shows you that you can make it anything really!
Since you are going for the romantic theme- classic loves song titles would be ideal! Good luck!

We struggled massively with this!! My final ideas were 'cheese and wine' names or gem stones and we went with gem/birth stones! We had a vintage theme so everything was hard!
Why don't you have a different love heart saying as each table name?

Put pictures of you both at that age?? 1 you both at 1year 2 at 2years etc....

Its down to your personal taste, while we have gone for a vintage/rustic decor we went off on a tangent with table names. We are both big motorsport fans, particularly Formula 1, we are having track names

We have a smallholding so we used the breeds of the animals we keep. It was personal to us and got the guests talking! Choose something personal to you as a couple. If it's a romantic theme go for names of your best dates or significant place - Where you got engaged, first holiday as a couple etc xx

Because it's a pub and your theme is red, why not name each table after a type or brand or red wine? Merlot, Malbec, Pinot Noir...

You don't have to have table names if you are really struggling. Numbers are perfectly acceptable and make the tables easier to find. Guests also probably won't be bothered if your tables are numbered or named so I wouldn't worry if you can't think of table names that you like. We've decoupaged some 3D numbers (to make the tables easier to find) but are having wooden letters spelling out the names of different flowers on each one as we are having a secret garden theme so we're kind of doing both. A possible idea for table names: romantic cities - for example cities that always set the scene for romance in films such as Paris or Venice or names of romantic films such as The Notebook, The Holiday and Love Actually.

We're doing names of love songs and then having them play during the breakfast? X

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 2 Sep 2017

Ours are going to be special numbers for example Table 56: the number of our first home together or Table 23: the date in December that he popped the question. I'm going to make number cards to put in holders to stick out of the centrepieces with the number and then a line or two underneath to explain what the number means. We preferred that idea to table names because it is a bit more personal :)

You can go outside the box. Name them after superheroes, films you both enjoy or shows you watch, after fields, cars, boxers names

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 2 Sep 2017

You can also have them numbered but have your baby pictures of that age underneath. So table 1 and picture of you both at that age and so on

We got married at Easter and had an Easter theme but my husband wanted something different for the table names so we used our favourite TV series! It was good cos we picked the table names according to which series reminded us of our family/friends! Xx

There was one wedding I went to where they were numbers and each number had a picture of the bride and groom at that age. Was very nice. Love songs is nice. Another wedding had different types of crisps and they were the favours too.
