Has anyone used or going to use a College/Uni student photographer rather than a Professional? We're you impressed with the photos etc or would you have preferred a professional? Any pics would be really helpful x

We have a friend doing ours. She has done photography for years, birthdays cake smashes ect and a few weddings. No one knows us better than a friend. Ive been through all her pics and been to parties she has photographed and i love her style.. laid back and hardly anything staged. Im not a great lover of having someone else take my pictures so to find someone who knows this and is happy to work around us has been perfect. I find alot of photographers (from being at other peoples weddings) like staged photography and with alot of children coming to our day, i cant deal with the stress of trying to get so many people & children to stay still for them

I'm having a uni graduate 👨‍🎓 yes she is my cousin but still I want them to be natural and not posed go with one cheaper and they will do there best as they want to impress professionals already got a name so no need to impress as already have before xx

I had a graduate videographer who was awesome! Put in so much time and effort. She is a friend who wanted experience.

If they're looking to break through it'll be likely they'll put a lot if effort in in order to create a portfolio. But there is that risk they would have the same ability as a professional. Check out previous work and see if it's worth the risk.

Personally wouldn't risk it. You get what you pay for. Wedding timings need to be planned. The photographer needs to know their groups and how long they'll take etc. You only get One wedding day, you can't retake the photos. What if they miss out important people or don't have a back up battery etc. Simple things but professionals have insurance too, you have a bit of comeback. It's the 1 thing I wouldn't skimp on. Find somewhere else to cut your budget.

We are. He's a friend too. He's done a few weddings now though and by our wedding he'll have had another full summer of weddings done. His style is exactly what we want though x

I know of a few 'professional' photographers who have charge £1000 and have produced some appalling photos! Some student/amateur photographers are great, meet with them and see if they offer a pre-wedding shoot so that you can see for yourself if you are certain on their style and photos

Thank you for your comments! We both know photographers who used to do weddings however they have both stopped now!! I do agree if they are really passionate about a career in photography they will try their hardest to impress! It's only an idea at the moment but maybe worth looking into!

I'm having a person who does it in their spare time but they did my friends wedding so I've seen their work. £150 for 5 hours!
