What have other brides done when you have found "the dress" 3 years before your wedding day? Do the wedding dress shop keep it there until you go back for fittings? Or do you have to take it away with you? I understand that it could be different from store to store, tia!
I got mine earlier this yr n i get married in june 2018 i found the dress and they asked for deposot and are keeping it for me until my fittings in January because we paid a deposit on it xxx
Does depend on the store wed2b you have to take away. Most boutique shops have storage options but you might have to pay for them to store it. If you are ordering it obviously won't come in for a while, a sale or sample dress you would possibly have to take away/ pay for storage straight away.
I got my dress and our date hadn't even been set! I get married in 7 weeks and still love it. The shop has kept it until now, and I'll be collecting it a week before the wedding. Xxx
I got mine just under 2 years before wedding date I took mine home (stored at my mums) which im glad off as the shop changed from a wedding shop to a prom/bridesmaids shop. Same owners so did my alterations as promised but I would of been very worried if I didn't have the dress and then drove past seeing new name of shop and no wedding dresses x
My boutique as kept mine for me free of charge x
I had my yes to the dress moment last night! Going to pay for it today 😁 My mum is has seamstress skills so I'm taking mine home as soon as I can and avoiding the ridiculous costs of the shops alterations service x
I found my dress 3 years before the weddding paid a deposit and had it made just before the wedding.
My dress was ordered 13 months before the day, originally it was 6-9 months to make it but had the call this week that it is in so only took 5 months! When i asked what happens now they just said they'd keep it in store I want to collect it nearer the time x
I got mine 18 months before . I had to pay £50 to keep it in the shop x
Some will keep it free of charge, others will charge. Places like Wed2Be,you'd have to take the dress home
Mine was stored at the shop.. No extra cost.x
I've got mine 2 1/2 years early and I've kept mine at my mums xx
Lol they'll keep it there till you have the final fitting. I picked mine up 2 weeks before
I have had my dress 9 years and finaly going to wear it next august. Lol xx
I wouldn't buy my dress that soon but once the shop had it I'd take it home with me except when it's being altered - what if the shop goes bankrupt in the next 3 years?
I had my dress moment earlier this month and my heart is set on it but still having to go try on different dresses
Just be aware that if the the shop went out of business you probably wouldn't get your dress x
I bought mine 2 and a half yrs before I got married and got it at a bargain price of £60 (the bridal shop wanted £1,199) so I could not leave it and i stored it at my mums house until it was time to get it altered good luck xx
I'm getting married next Aug and found my dress end off last year the one I wanted was off the shelf as it has stopped being made and they said they will keep it till I was ready but I am ordering bridesmaid dresses from the same shop
I would be more worried about weight fluctuations in the next 3 years, but if it's 'the one' then I'd get it
I picked my dress in 2012!! And I reserved it sometime in 2014 for a wedding in 2015! You've just got to keep an eye on whether they'll still stock the dress! Xx
I took mine away. x
I found mine 3 years before my wedding it took it home with me. Well put a lock on the wardrobe at my mammys house so it was all under lock and key
Just be careful as I'm glad I took mine home with me as the shop i got my dress in closed down about a year after I got my dress
I brought mine in June I don't get married till may 2019 there are alterations that are needed but it was the one so couldn't say no 🙂
I found my dress in April this year but don't get married until September 2019 I've started making payments towards it and won't need to do anything until 2019 when I get my measurements done and they then arrange for the dress to be made. The shop will store my dress free of charge until the wedding and also steam and press it for me too no charges
I got mine a year ago off the peg. I took it home and had it in the house until Feb this year when I took it to a seamstress (in york near where i live) to discuss what work would need doing and costs. They've had the dress since then and will retain it until I collect it just before Christmas and they don't charge. I go for my first fitting in October and I can't wait xxx
dresses get discontinued alot from designers so ideally if you see "the" dress you need it there and then. my wedding dress was dress #4 i was 5 months pregnant (now 7) and i felt a million dollars
