For something of more natural beauty, West Yorkshire has Roundhay Park, a spacious nature area with gardens, walking trails and lakes. Hop on a train and ride the railway! There’s a five mile long heritage railway line in the Worth Valley. It’s a great way to see some of the area you’re marrying in and take in the sights.

Kirkstall Abbey

This list would be incomplete without this beautiful riverside Cistercian abbey. It was founded in around 1152 and disestablished during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII. Imagine yourselves walking around a 12th century abbey, feeling the sense of history and all the stories within its walls…a very romantic spot!

Dales Way

If you’re both into walking and exploring, Dales Way might be the best way to get your West Yorkshire experience before the wedding. It’s an 80 mile footpath from West Yorkshire to Cumbria. As you can imagine going between these two places, it really is unapologetically gorgeous with countryside coming in at all angles and stops along the way.

Hardcastle Crags
