The Top Five Cake Trends To Expect in 2018
23 October 2017
Cake is one of the many aspects of your wedding where you can let your imagination run wild. Gone are the days when couples had a simple white wedding cake.
Nowadays, cakes are more personal and offer more of a story. There is more colour to cake, and it comes in many different forms. Here are the expected trends for 2018 wedding cake.
Floral Detail
Cakes are becoming more and more detailed, and this is especially evident in floral sugar craft. The flowers created for cakes are so detailed and so intricate, they almost look real and far too good to eat! We expect to see a lot more of this in 2018.
Bold in Gold
Gold and silver tiers are also popular styles set for 2018. Our favourites are the golden chocolate drop tiers like this one below.
Naked Cakes
Naked cakes are still a trend and there will be some around in 2018, although this trend is slowly dying off. If you want to save a bit of money though, this is an ideal solution, and you still end up having a delicious and lovely looking cake.
Single Tiers
If you’re looking to save money but stay on trend, single tiered cakes are really popular. Instead of having the standard three tiers elaborately displayed, these cakes are tall single tiers that are also well decorated, but a lot more affordable. Some cake makers charge you on tiers, some charge on detail, some charge a mix of both.
Cake Tables
Finally, because single tiered cakes are so popular, cake tables will be a trend for 2018. As much as we love single tiers, they don’t exactly make great centrepieces. That’s why brides are surrounding their beautiful single tiers with sweets, cake pops and simpler, more affordable treats!
