1. Can I see past examples of your work?

If the answer is no, be wary. A florist should always have a collection of images of past wedding bouquets. It also gives you the chance to see if their wedding work matches the idea you had in mind for the big day.

2. How many weddings have you done?

It may be important to you to have a wedding florist with plenty of experience so make sure you ask this all important question. It shows a good level of expertise too to compare this florist against others.

3. Are you willing to work within my budget?

This may seem a little obvious, but it’s important to get that question in especially before the prices are presented. Even if the answer is no, at least you can then start discussing alternatives and compromises. Don’t be scared to ask this one – it will save you money in the long run!

4. How do you work with your clients?

It’s important to understand the process of work the florist will have, whether they design the display on paper, get any kind of quotes in detail from you or just create it based on everything you’ve said. Some florists want to create bouquets for couples who have no idea what they want so they can put their own ideas into it, others would prefer to service a client to their exact specifications. Ask them and find out what works best for you.

5. Are there any extra costs?

Some florists may charge for delivery or service or even hire of individual items. It’s really important you discover all the hidden costs – it may mean the difference between choosing one florist to the other.

6. Will you have any other weddings that day or that weekend?

Some florists will have multiple weddings booked even in the same day. Discover if that is the case and evaluate whether you would like that. If you’re fine with that, great! A full-service florist may cost more but we think it’s worth the extra cost for peace of mind and beautiful displays on the day.

7. Who will handle setup and delivery, and who will be there to take everything down afterwards?

You will be surprised at the amount of brides who didn’t ask this question and on the day, the flowers were simply delivered and not set up! It’s so important you discover who is handling the setup because it confirms that there will definitely be a setup. If you’re having big displays, it’s important to ask who will be there to take them down afterwards.

8. Would you be prepared to make a mock-up bouquet?

It may be a little cheeky to ask, but if they’re willing, you’ll have a great example of their work, lovely flowers for your home and proof that they’re willing to go above and beyond to service you. If not, it’s no problem but it’s worth asking!

9. What other services do you offer?

Some florists these days are event planners too, or simply venue decorators. It’s worth asking, especially if you really get on well with them. Their other services may be appealing.

10. When am I expected to pay for my flowers?

Asking this question may give you a little more wriggle room on payments and your wedding cash flow. Either way, it prepares you for when you will receive your invoice and you can save money for it!
