A brief history of our venue and surrounding area
BARNSDALE LODGE Originally a 17th century farmhouse on the Exton Estate, home to the Noel family (Earl of Gainsborough) for generations at the head of a horse chestnut tree-lined avenue, Barnsdale Lodge hotel is now a superb 44 bedroom hotel and restaurant. Situated in its own graceful and tranquil gardens on the glorious north shore of Rutland Water, the hotel is built in local mellow Rutland stone, quarried from the adjacent estate of the Earl of Gainsborough. With its gentle undulating fields and spectacular views of the lake, it is one of England's hidden treasures.

RUTLAND Rutland is an idyllic rural destination offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While being a relatively hidden gem, Rutland is convenient to reach from all directions as it is situated in the heart of the East Midlands, making it the ideal location for short breaks in the UK Quietly nestling in the quiet English countryside, England’s smallest county has much to share with you; not least, fantastic Rutland Water, an array of unspoilt villages and two attractive market towns packed with charm. Rich in history and full of character, come and discover the delights of this special place; where you will receive a warm welcome and be enchanted by a decidedly English way of life. Rutland offers a taste of traditional England, undiscovered by many and treasured by a lucky few.
The origin of the name Rutland is controversial and hotly debated. Some say it is named after a local landowner called Rota who owned a large estate in the area. Others say that the name stems from the rich red colour of the soil which is found here, and that, over time the name became Rutland. Unfortunately, it looks set to remain a mystery, as there is no conclusive evidence to prove one story or the other.
From 1974 until 1997, Rutland was part of Leicestershire. However it is now a proudly independent county and in 2007 celebrated a decade of independence. To this day, Rutland remains one of the most charming, proud and attractive rural counties in England.

Page 11 --------- The rose ceremony
Rose ceremony In the Rose Ceremony, the Bride and Groom give each other a Rose. Two roses are all that is necessary. The Rose Ceremony is placed at the end of the ceremony just before being pronounced husband and wife. In the old language of flowers, a single red rose always meant "I love you". The Rose ceremony gives recognition to the new and most honorable title of "Husband and Wife".
"Your gift to each other for your wedding today has been your wedding rings - which shall always be an outward demonstration of your vows of love and respect; and a public showing of your commitment to each other.
You now have what remains the most honorable title which may exist between a man and a woman - the title of "husband" and "wife." For your first gift as husband and wife, that gift will be a single rose.
In the past, the rose was considered a symbol of love and a single rose always meant only one thing - it meant the words "I love you." So it is appropriate that for your first gift - as husband and wife - that gift would be a single rose.
Please exchange your first gift as husband and wife. In someways it seems like you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small rose - and now you are holding one small rose. In some ways, a marriage ceremony is like this. In some ways, tomorrow is going to seem no different than yesterday. But in fact today, just now, you both have given and received one of the most valuable and precious gifts of life - one I hope you always remember - the gift of true and abiding love within the devotion of marriage.
Maria Paulson and John Connery, I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future - whether it be a large and elegant home - or a small and graceful one - that you both pick one very special location for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion you both may take a rose to that spot both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love.
In every marriage there are times where it is difficult to find the right words. It is easiest to hurt who we most love. It is easiest to be most hurt by who we most love. It might be difficult some time to words to say "I am sorry" or "I forgive you"; "I need you" or "I am hurting". If this should happen, if you simply can not find these words, leave a rose at that spot which both of you have selected - for that rose than says what matters most of all and should overpower all other things and all other words.
That rose says the words: "I still love you." The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both share today.
Maria Paulson and John Connery, if there is anything you remember of this marriage ceremony, it is that it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure."

"________, I promise to be a good and faithful husband/wife to you, and also a patient, loving father/mother to (children's names), caring for them and providing for them as my own. I promise to be their strength and their emotional support, loving them with all my heart forever."
The children—now part of a loving blended family—can then repeat “We do" after these words:
"And now, (children's names), do you promise to love and respect your parent's new husband/wife? Do you promise to support their marriage and new family? Do you promise to accept the responsibility of being their children, and to encourage them and support them in your new life together?

Readings
An Apache Blessing (Anon) Now you will feel no rain, For each of you will be shelter to the other. Now you will feel no cold, For each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no more loneliness, For each of you will be companion to the other. Now you are two bodies, But there is only one life before you. Go now to your dwelling place, To enter into the days of your togetherness. And may your days be good and long upon the earth
Page 14 --------- Thank you
Let me just say to all, Thank You!
It's very hard to describe And not enough words to express. But give us just a minute and we'll try to do our best.
Thank You is just two words But it can mean a thousand things. But as ____ and I move forward We are learning all its great meanings.
We learned what it meant and still learning along the way. But looking at all your faces, We find the words of Thanks to say.
Thanks to all our friends, who helped to keep us sane. Thanks to all our family, for helping us once again.
Thank you for your voices, for letting us hear your songs. Thank you for you support, and helping us to be strong.
Thank you for your wisdom, it has helped in many ways. Thank you for your love, it has helped us to see this day.
So you see, Thanks is not just a word that?s said. Thanks is a love and a feeling. That enters our heart and sticks in our head.
Thanks for helping us find the words to say, And thanks for helping us to live this ever lasting day

I know its a rough draft like you say but I just thought I would say that caricaturist is spelt wrong. Obviously you will be checking everything before it gets printed but I know I wouldn't be happy myself if a mistake had slipped under the radar so to speak. I think it looks really great and now you make me wish that I could do one of these but I'm only having an evening reception and now I'm jealous :-( :-)
CommentAuthorMrs-Mouse-2-be
Oh and I'm not sure about this but when you use a comma it isn't usually followed by a capital letter. Maybe it is if the next word is on a separate line I don't know but I think you could check that out before printing?

This looks amazing! I'm rubbish at spelling and grammar but how you have laid it out is really good! x
Love: A wildly misunderstood, although highly desirable,
malfunction of the heart.
37 Pounds down, 22 pounds to go! I will be a skinny bride!
28th March 2014 will be the day I marry my best friend.
Looks good, you not putting menus on the tables? I'm not sure next to your daughters names you need to write, soon to be step daughter as that's obvious and everyone knows that. Also do you need to write the vows? Normally you just read after.
Just my thoughts xxx

I just went through it again and I picked up on a few more typos. Marshmallows is spelt wrong and towards the end the word that's has a question mark in it also after the word feeling in the same paragraph there shouldn't be a full stop as the next line seems like its meant to be part of the same sentence.
