    AHHHH!! Family!

So today 5 of the grooms family have cancelled. His mum called me this afternoon for a chat and started telling me, firstly his cousin has finished with his long term girlfriend so she isnt coming - no problem I totally understand. Then she tells me that another cousin isnt bringing her partner as he has to look after the kids - even she cant understand why they cant ask someone else but never mind. Then she says his other cousin and partner also cant come. Fine - breathe - no worries- I will call mum and let her know - we should still make the numbers and they were only evening guests anyway.
I found out that one of his other cousins has a partner so suggested that MIL could invite him. She said she would call, brill idea.
2 hours later I get a text to tell me that cousin, who RSVPd about 2 weeks ago, is no longer coming - she is friends on FB with me, how long was she going to wait until she told us?? I dont understand some people! GRRR!!

To top it all off the seating plan my friend designed and 5 of us checked arrived from the printers wrong- my mum's name is misspelt - how did we not see that??

Trying not to be bridezilla and keep calm!

On the plus side the rest of the dollars arrived and I ordered a lilo :)

Oh dear. Do you need to make a minimum number? Can you bump people up?

Most weddings have late drop outs. We had 3 drop out at ours, we didn't change the seating plan or table plan, just left it as it was and told the venue not to set places for them. It was too late to bump up the evening guests and we'd have had to redo the seating plan if we did anyway. Decided there's no point in worrying about it as there were more important things about the day than a few people suddenly not being able to come. My sister and BIL had 5 last minute drop outs, one was a cousin who actually had no intention of actually coming.

If you can bump people up and redo the seating plan and reprint the table plan then do it but don't stress, it's a minor thing in the grand scheme of your wedding day and marriage x

We haven't got to pay the food til a week before so we're quite lucky, and our table plan is a huge chalkboard so we can make alterations... I can see how frustrating it is though x

It's so annoying, even if people can't help it. I'm a bit annoyed at my fiance's son. When we originally invited his girlfriend, he said she will be working and can't come. He told us yesterday that she can now make it, but now we are full, plus we have paid to have our seating plan made. We will just tell him she can come as an evening guest.

My Sister had drop outs 2/3 days before her wedding and got all sorts of excuses! Is there any way you can change the spelling of your Mum's name without it looking obvious? If you can't I'm sure your Mum will understand :o)

My Mum had someone drop out the night before due to a tummy bug and my 20 year old cousin dropped out 2 hours before the ceremony because (and she literally said this) she'd rather go out shopping with her friends.
My blessing ceremony in a couple of weeks and we had some people drop out, followed by some people calling and asking if it would be OK if they also brought x with them so the numbers actually evened out, but before we got any of the calls asking to bring extra people my Mum called the venue who said they weren't able to give refunds but they are willing to throw in a load of extra stuff to the same value. It's a shame they can't come to your wedding but with 12 days to go you have time to call the venue and see if they'll throw some goodies your way... drinks package upgrade perhaps?

Thanks ladies - trying to be chilled. They are only evening things so its cool. Now one who dropped out has decided she is coming again...
