Wedding Ideas

Are you a work-shy wedding planner? Forget Viva Las Vegas, there's a new nuptial novelty gracing the world of wedding ideas — which promises to cut corners and costs!

If you prefer plastic to platinum, and would rather see your nuptials on a receipt than a register, then feast your eyes on this crazed creation, the latest unusual wedding idea — the AutoWed Wedding Machine!

Invented by British designers Concept Shed, the first version of their machine has been bought by Marvin's Marvellous Mechanical Museum in Michigan, USA, although the company are currently in the process of designing a simplified AutoWed 2.0 to make it profitable for UK venues to operate.

The latest in unusual wedding ideas, and described by its creators as "Part Cadillac, part cathedral" the eight feet tall machine uses motion sensors to entice passers-by to tie the knot. Catering for a variety of marriages as well as 'Best Friends Forever' it prompts users to "Press one for straight, two for gay, three for lesbian or four for B.F.F." ceremonies.

After entering your names on a bespoke keyboard, you are then guided through the service using a specially composed version of the wedding march, and presented with two plastic eggs containing your rings, and a personalized wedding receipt from the machine's internal printer.

Finally, the AutoWed ceremony concludes with a tinge of cynicism, offering you a "10% discount for AutoDivorce with your wedding receipt."

And, the cost? An AutoWed ceremony costs the budgeting bride-to-be just £1 — a small price to pay for a quick hitch!
